Our only hard aspect in the week ahead is Saturn slipping into the South Node of destiny, obsession, karma and release from captivity to freedom or change. It is a pretty major aspect. Actually, any sort of aspect to the nodes are major aspects. So last week we had Venus slipping into the South Node as well as the Saturn/Venus midpoint dipping into it. Now we have Saturn entering the South Node to finish Saturn in Leo for good. Now Saturn baths and immerses himself in the energy of Virgo to prepare for his journey through the sign of apprenticeship, service, health, and body. Saturn is ruled by retrograde Mercury in Scorpio right now ~ so everything old is new again. Nothing changes as everything evolves. You get the idea ~ another layer, level and learning about your path, place and journey in the world of form where what Saturn says goes as we dance in the spiral of our life.
Any sort of Saturn transit to the Nodes marks a profound change, ending/ beginning or a major transition of something important in our lives into a brand new form. Like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly, there is no going back to crawling on your comfortable green leaf, snuggling with another hot and cute caterpillar as you chomp away all day on delicious chlorophyll filled leaves. Saturn joining with the South Node says it is time for your new story. That story involves growing wings and flying around in the big wide world from flower to flower with a completely new bunch of butterflies. Actually, it involves first learning HOW to fly. You have been a caterpillar. Now the wider world beckons, even as you enter it unsure how you are actually supposed to go about this flying business. Your caterpillar life is done. Saturn joining to the South Node indicates that karmic phase of the story of your life is finishing up this week.
As you know, those karmic stories are the ones that test your soul, push you to evolve and make you cry yourself to sleep. As you know, those karmic stories are the ones that make your soul soar, guide you to your destiny or life’s path and make you laugh with joy and gratitude for the grace and wonder of being alive. Net version of Karma: When the chart or the heavens talk about a “karmic” event, we ALWAYS can anticipate an intensely PERSONAL and IMPORTANT moment or event in our lives.
The second part of the Saturn/ Venus/ South Node merging to swirl together business is the fact that it is taking place at the same degree as the full moon eclipse from August 27, 2007. The August eclipse full moon in Virgo and Pisces took place at the degrees where Saturn and the Nodes are now transiting. So the eclipse energy, which is kind of a cosmic bonfire of dried beach wood waiting for a match, will be active too. Expect that the events that began under the full moon eclipse event or which became known back in late August will be moving to their next phase, whatever that is going to be. The cosmic match is going to be struck and the eclipse bonfire ignited.
Well, so what does that karmic story of yours shifting this week mean exactly? The old story is finished, done, completed, on some level. Look to the Virgo house in your chart to see where the karma is shifting. Look to the natal placement of Saturn by sign and house to see what the story is about. Whatever the karma was, the chapter is finished and resolved. Your karma is moving onto another level ~ either up or down, reap or sow, elevate to a new level or repeat with remedial Saturn lessons. It is between you and Saturn to determine which way you’ll be going.
If you have been doing your Saturn and working hard on what you are here to do, Saturn will take you to the next level to “up your game” so to speak. If you have been ducking Saturn and avoiding taking personal responsibility for what you need to deal with, Saturn will come a-calling with a reminder or perhaps an unpleasant visit from the reality police. Accountability, detailed accountability, is where it is at with Saturn in Virgo ruled by retrograde Mercury in Scorpio. Be Honest with yourself ~ apply those critical Virgo analytical skills. If you told the story to 12 perfect strangers and the other person got to tell THEIR side of the story, whom would the 12 people believe? Apply that level of personal integrity to the situation before you. If you are at fault ~take steps to fix it!
The Karmic path guiding your life will now start to shift into a new version or modality as Saturn dips into the South Node and begins his mutable journey of change from the season of summer into the season of fall, symbolized by Virgo‘s changeable nature. Saturn will determine if you‘ve learned what you needed to learn to take your life to the next phase. Watch for events leading up to Saturn diving into the South Node both this week and last week to see what your story is about. Even if the karmic situation does not “feel” resolved, or appears to be without a happy conclusion, the next phase begins now.
Saturn dipping into the South Node does not happen often but when it does, it is a big moment in time and in our lives. It is a pivotal point when the ringed end of the visible solar system, Saturn says a karmic cycle is finished and announces it is time to move on to a new chapter. Your natal Saturn placement by house as well as the Capricorn and Aquarius ruled houses will tell the story. If you ARE a Capricorn, Aquarius, or have strong placements in those signs, expect a major change in your life. Look the house, Virgo, where the South Node dip is taking place to see what area of your life is experiencing the karmic shift or pivot. Other recent times when Saturn has dipped into the South Node are January 1985, into 25 Scorpio and January 1997, into 1 Aries. This nodal dip is at five Virgo.
The rest of the week speaks to illuminations and inspirations with lots of Sun and Mercury aspects that act as spotlights of brightness or mention their secrets in whispers. Remember Mercury is in charge of Saturn in Virgo so communications are particularly important especially if old friends or contacts surface in your life. Make sure to chat up those ghosts, the Scorpio ghosts are the most interesting types!
Monday, Pluto has aspects of brilliance with creative processes and ideas while Sun joins with Chiron by declination. Most brilliant ideas are born out of a need seen by an unserved wound or space or desire. Today, the universe will be pointing out to you how to move towards what you are here to create. Mercury has a working aspect with Vesta so create, clear or find a space or area in your house, home or office to hold the information for the new job or project you are going to work on while Saturn is in Virgo.
Tuesday, Mercury has an aspect of brilliance and cooperation with Pallas in early Pisces. What is well begun is well done and flows easily. Saturn dips into the South Node as the Sun enters Scorpio and moves on into the energy of endings. Sun also joins with retrograde Mercury ~ the ending of the story was necessary for your soul to grow and become what you are to become. Mercury enters Libra going backwards to look at what has been going on in the relationship. Right before he leaves Scorpio, Mercury argues, loudly, with Uranus. Reflect on the myth of Prometheus, who I actually prefer as the myth for all types of Uranus aspects. Prometheus thought humankind should have fire ~ which was the province of the gods. By giving humans fire, he forever altered their perception and functioning in the world. Humans were able to tame fire and use it to cook, heat and light their way. Night and darkness no longer ruled. Once you see or experience your very own equivalent of fire, you can never go back. Today is such a day. Be gentle with yourself.

hat you have been collaborating with. If you are not, now is the time to change it. Today, after Saturn to the South Node and the aspects of yesterday, is a LOVELY day to start a new health regime, quit smoking, start exercising, clean and organize your life to get you ready for Saturn in Virgo. Have to make it a part of your daily life for it to become a habit!
Thursday, Venus is opposite Uranus as Uranus aspects Juno moving retrograde. Old partners or habits appear and want to take you on a journey. Just say no. You can do it. Now or never. Start today. You will feel very virtuous if you begin again today. Pay off debts, separate from money or love situations that no longer work for you.
Friday, Uranus has an aspect of brilliance to organizing and setting things up. Back to the myth of Prometheus. Do you see how your story mirrors that story? What is your fire? What is the transformation in your life due to the arrival of Saturn in the South node? What pivoted in your world? Mercury asks you to look at Saturn and listen to Pluto to see what the next part of your life will be like. We are wrapping up the Jupiter and Pluto cycle that began in 1994. We are starting a new journey of Saturn in Virgo asking you to make part of your daily routines that which you love the most. What is the fire in your heart that you want to be part of your life? Remember that while fire burns, it also provides light and heat. There are three kinds of fire ~ the inspiration and starting beginning fire of Aries ~ a match striking and lighting the darkness; the hearth, fixed fire of Leo, that burns and warms the room and family and the wild, free fire of Sagittarius ~ a wild and windy bonfire on a beach sending sparks high into the dark sky or a wild fire raging out of control from a lightening strike or perhaps the lights of a thousand candles flickering and glowing as we approach Christmas and the holidays. What is your fire? What is your passion? How can you have your passion in your life every day?
Saturn’s day, Mercury talks to the nodes to soothe their possibly hurt feelings after Saturn’s dip into the South node made it kick up. Alternatively, perhaps Mercury simply offers it support for what the nodes and Saturn are trying to do. On the other hand, maybe Mercury expresses its solidarity and has your back. Watch for the Mercury’s in your life. What messages are the heaven’s sending you?
Sunday, Jupiter has an aspect of brilliance to Pallas. Often it means we have to reframe or relight the given situation to see what it is trying to tell us. Sun’s trine to the North Node in Pisces speaks to say, "It is time to move forward to the next chapter". Mars has an aspect of adjustment to Chiron ~ no winners or losers here ~ all of us are affected, all of us are impacted, all of us will experience change at some point in our lives. Change is now, part of life, part of who we are. The change in your family and friends’ lives is now too. The woundedness that is such a part of being a human being on the earth reminds us that there, but for the grace of god (or maybe Saturn), go we. And there, with the grace of god and Saturn, is our path. Follow your path.

Prince (June 6 1969, 6:52 pm (birth time is an “Anne guess” based on his life events~ no time given) Holland, Michigan) is the President, Founder and Owner of Blackwater Corporation. Does the “D” stand for Dark? Mr. Dark Prince has been in the news recently regarding his company’s employees’ activities in Iraq. We have outsourced the defense of our State Department, visiting diplomats and officials to the contractor Blackwater. Even General Petraeus is guarded by them instead of the US Military. Blackwater employees can fire without any legal consequences on unarmed Iraqi citizens, unlike US soldiers. Blackwater employees also patrol New Orleans. Mr.Dark Prince does not like the term “mercenary” applied to the employees of his firm. He says the people he employs are “Americans fighting for America.”
The definition of a Mercenary is 1. Motivated solely by a desire for monetary or material gain, greedy, venal. 2. Hired for service in a foreign army. 3. A person who serves or works merely for material gain; a hireling, 4. A professional soldier who is hired by a foreign country. Mr. Dark Prince’s father was a self-made billionaire inventor involved with the automotive industry. His family sold the Prince firm for over1.3 billion dollars when he died. Mr. Dark Prince took part of his inheritance and bought 6,000 acres in the Great Dismal Swamp in North Carolina. Gotta love the swamp’s name as it hosts and supports Blackwater‘s training camps for its employees and whoever wants to rent the camp for military or SWAT training purposes. You can’t make this stuff up!
My friend Kevin pointed out that Erik, our very own Dark Prince, is automating and optimizing the manufacturing and production of trained, hired killers (After all, Mr. Dark Prince doesn’t like the word mercenary!) via the techniques of assembly lines from the automotive industry. A private army that is paid by and reports to him! To my mind, there is a big difference between a solo and independent solider of war (or mercenary) who places or answers ads in the back pages of Soldiers of Fortune and a multi-billion dollar company whose purpose and payroll is comprised of trained killers. It is a very big difference don‘t you think? Where are all these Blackwater employees going to go once the war in Iraq is finished? Since 9-11, Blackwater has received over 1 billion in KNOWN military and government contracts, not to mention the ones that are not known or cloaked in secrecy. As Blackwater is a private company, there are many things we will never know. Those Scorpio types cloak things in DEEP secrecy. Mr. Dark Prince does seem to have daddy issues as dear old George W. does. I wish these men would get into therapy instead of going around killing people to express their rage and impotence about their all-powerful fathers. Work out your oedipal stuff on the couch instead of projecting your issues all over poor countries that did not do anything to you.
As you might guess by looking at Mr. Dark Prince’s chart, there is a religious component to the Blackwater firm and their website. There is even an evangelical message in the “Chaplain Corner”. That gentle Pisces Moon opposite the tough Virgo Stellium (Jupiter, Pluto, and Uranus on the South node sextile to Neptune in Scorpio) draws this astrologer’s eye. Jeremy Scahill’s book, Blackwater: The Rise of the World’s Most Powerful Mercenary Army” suggests Mr. Dark Prince is a “neo-crusader”, a “Theo-con” with a Christian-supremacist agenda. Haven’t we done this religious war business before folks? His Gemini Sun offers the story of son caught between ’good versus bad’ or two-faced father. His Mercury and Mars both aspect the asteroid Icarus ~ the son who flies based on wings his father invented only to crash when the wax melts in the hot sun? Hmmm.
My natal Saturn in Scorpio in the eighth house is vibrating! Part of transiting Saturn dipping into the Virgo South Node story involves two of my younger relatives ~ my niece, Sadie, 23 years old with 2 girls under 4, was diagnosed with an often deadly, always difficult, brain tumor while my cousin’s son and my godson, Scott, 18, is off to Iraq to serve our country with the Marines. If you are a praying type of person, please add these two young people, as well as Sadie’s husband, Mitch and daughters, Rose, 3.75, and Lily, 1.5, to your prayers. Thank you!
