Quick Update: The New Moon in Leo

Note — This newsletter went out to my mailing list last night, Tuesday, August 18. If you’d like to get future updates from me ASAP, please sign up here. It’s not too late to do your New Moon manifestation ritual! Just avoid doing it under the Libra Moon on Friday and Saturday. xo

Dear friends,

One hundred years ago today, with the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment, it became illegal for US citizens to be denied the right to vote on the basis of their sex. American women became a part of the electorate for the first time: though we know that many, many women of color, especially Black and Native women, remained effectively disenfranchised until the 1960s or beyond — either through poll taxes and extralegal violence, or because their citizenship was not recognized, or nowadays, through targeted voter suppression. I believe that it’s a milestone worth remembering, however, and a great day to honor the work of suffragists of all races by (if you happen to be one of my US-citizen readers) double- or triple-checking your own current registration status. Your vote is important and it always has been.

It’s also a great day for a personal ritual, welcoming the New Moon that is scheduled to come tonight at 10:42 PM Eastern US time. The chart features a radiant Grand Trine in Fire, with the Sun and Moon and Mercury all combust in Leo, trine to the very-active Mars in Aries and the South Node in Sadge on the Fixed Star Aculeus. We’re starting a new 30-day cycle, as well as new 2.5-year cycle; you’ll see the results of this week’s intentions in the month ahead and in May 2021, February 2022, and November 2022. Mars’s being besieged between Pluto and Saturn suggests road-blocks (check that registration status!) but he’s feisty in Aries and he actually has more leverage than you might think, once he gets going.

Do some visioning this week that is BIGGER than what you would normally give yourself permission to go for. Don’t argue with the reality at hand, just tap in to a big, bold vision for the future — then make some tiny to-do lists and check off the tasks, one by one. Mercury and the Sun both enter Virgo this week, and Virgo adores to-do lists! Next Monday, August 24th, after Mars finishes his square to Saturn, your projects and plans will rocket forward.

Wishing you all health, safety, and justice, and whatever else your heart desires.

Big hugs,

Anne
