Hi everybody,
So, as many of you know, my wonderful assistant Rose is (in addition to her work with me) both a playwright and a Jane Austen scholar. She’s been off in the UK for the last few weeks doing research for her plays, leaving me more of a disorganized Virgo than usual . . . she’ll be back soon, though, thank Heavens!
Rose is the author of Persuasion, a stage adaptation of Jane Austen’s final novel, which debuted off-Broadway in New York last fall. This summer, she’s raising money to do the play again as a workshop in Warwick, NY, through a new not-for-profit theatre company that she created.
To help her get it funded, I’m holding an online benefit event next Saturday, July 30 at 3:00 PM Eastern US time. [EDIT: Here’s the link to purchase the recordings!] Registration is $26 and all proceeds will go to The Holy Theatre and Persuasion.
I’ll be reading Jane Austen’s chart!
We actually have a good birth time for Jane (December 16, 1775 at 11:45 PM near Basingstoke, UK) and her chart contains a lot of interesting features. Whether you’re an Austen aficionado or not — and I actually don’t know much about her — this should be a fun and enlightening afternoon entertainment.
Performer Laura Rocklyn will be playing along in the character of Jane, while Jennyvi Dizon will emcee.
Come to get a feel for how I do a private reading and ask your burning questions about Jane Austen’s mighty life and work, while also supporting a group of smart, passionate young artists.
The event will be recorded in case you can’t make it live.
