The second Eclipse of this season is coming to us soon: Monday, January 21, 2019, at 12:15 AM Eastern US time, when the Sun and Moon oppose each other in the first degree of Aquarius and Leo — very, very close to the Nodes of Fate at late degrees of Capricorn and Cancer.
This Full Moon happens to be a Supermoon, as well as an Eclipse. meaning that the Moon is exceptionally near our home planet. Tides will be higher than high and lower than low; ditto our human emotions. The Lunar Goddess will appear bright blood red as the Earth passes between herself and the Sun. She is wild, fierce, big, and gorgeous. Get out and see her, if you can!
Full Moons represent the “bloom” portion of the stories seeded under their corresponding New Moons. This Lunar cycle began with the New Moon onJuly 23, 2017. Your actions and intentions from back then, are coming up for review now. (They may also have given you a squeeze back inApril 2018, at the Opening Square moment of this cycle.)
When the Eclipse chart is cast for Washington, DC (and this chart governs the whole of the US, since the nation’s capital is there), we find that the Moon and Sun are conjunct the Midheaven and Immum Coeli: that is, the tip-top and bottom of the chart. Those points in a chart — the Midheaven especially — speak to the overall purpose or theme of the story. And because the lights are placed there in Washington chart, I predict that the city of Washington will play an especially prominent role in the world events of the next few weeks.
Full Moons, and Eclipses in particular, often mark secrets coming to light. Yet because most of the planets fall below the horizon of Earth, there is still a great deal going on “behind the scenes.” The Moon, forming the handle of a bucket, is the focus of incredible scrutiny, taking one for the team; at less than 1 degree Leo, she says, “I’m too young to be in charge!”
Just a few more notes about the Washington chart: its Ascendant lies in the Via Combusta, making us United-Statesians extra fiery, for good or ill, around words that are spoken. Be careful what you say, because it will be remembered, deeply. Likewise, there are four planets in Capricorn in the Third House of communications. Sticks and stones may break bones, but words can hurt too. Especially when rock-like Cap planets are involved.
Depression is in the air, too. These are transits that will pass quickly. Hang in there.
Explosive Uranus in Aries also falls on the Seventh House cusp, meaning that break-ups in partnerships can come quickly. The status quo no longer serves. We are on the threshold of a new world, a new game.
All around the planet, this Eclipse chart shows Saturn and Pluto practicing their dance, planning out the details of their wedding next year. The chart also carries an intense-but-productive square of Venus and Jupiter in Sagittarius to Neptune in Pisces.
