Happy New Year, Happy New Moon in Capricorn

Dear friends,

The New Moon in Capricorn is coming bright and early: Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 6:57 AM Eastern US time (see the chart below!) when the Sun and Moon meet up at 20 degrees, 41 minutes Capricorn. Both lights are just in orb of their conjunctions to Pluto: the Sun’s conjunction to Pluto will perfect next week, moments before they both enter Aquarius.

This is both the first New Moon of the year and the last New Moon in Capricorn whilst Pluto is in Capricorn . . . something that won’t happen again for 228 years. In this season, we are wrapping up our Pluto-in-Capricorn journey: which began in November 2008! What’s ending for you, and what’s next?

This energy also brings us back to the fall of 2020 — yes, the early phase of Covid — when Saturn, Pluto, and Jupiter all danced together in the late degrees of Capricorn.

There is no Air in the chart except the South Node in Libra, and while Fire and Water are well-represented, Earth dominates. This is a time for doing and not talking!

The New Moon’s trine to Uranus in Taurus invites our creativity: thinking outside the box to build solutions to real-world problems. The Cardinal Earth sign of Capricorn helpfully stimulates Fixed Earth Taurus, producing the possibility of meaningful change.

As a matter of fact, we have a Grand Trine in Earth, with partnership asteroid Juno in Virgo making up the third point of the triangle. You do need support to create what you’re creating, and lucky for you, it is at hand!

There is an usually large quantity of major configurations in the sky right now (all of which I plan to discuss during my New Moon Manifestation Circle webinar tonight! ETA: Here’s the link to purchase the recordings and slides.).

The other that I’ll note here is a Mutable Cross, formed by Ceres and Mercury in Sagittarius (you can also throw in Venus if you want, though she’s a little wide of the mark), Juno in Virgo, Neptune in Pisces, and Vesta in Gemini.

Mutable Crosses toss us into a state of flux: the status quo isn’t going to stick around much longer, so you might as well leap now instead of waiting to be pushed. The vision that you articulated to yourself in late 2020 is ready to launch.

Whether you join the class or create a ritual on your own, I hope you’ll take the time to have a little sit-down with your soul and set your intentions for the upcoming 30-day and two-and-a-half-year cycles under this New Moon.

Wishing you all your heart desires!

Big hugs,

Anne

P.S. Just in case you missed my last newsletter . . . I want to make sure to plug a very special program that I’m participating in this year, beginning in February. I have recently joined forces with two BRILLIANT astrologers Margaret Gray and Rachel Lang for a series of courses on Relationships and Astrology. We’ll be teaching a three-day online intensive in February, followed by some in-depth certification courses in March and September. I’m so excited to be partnering with these amazing women and to focus on this essential topic. This program is particularly good for astrologers of all levels, particularly those who read for clients: you KNOW that 90% of what people want to talk to an astrologer about is, well, relationships!
