It is going to be another wild and crazy week. Last week, 5 planets stationed and changed direction. This week Jupiter stations and turns direct, to zoom through the rest of Cancer, the sign of his exaltation.
When planets stop, they freeze in the air around them relative to us observing from earth. We can feel very stuck, anxious, depressed, or complete DRIVEN to do SOME thing, ANY thing! Planets stopped above our heads and changing directions means we will have them stopping and changing directions in OUR chart. So down here on earth, in our chart, we are having all sorts of freezing, stopping, and changing or shifting of directions! The planets all start to move again NEXT week after Tuesday March 11. The freeze starts to break apart and lift at the end of the week.
Suffice to say, 20 years from now you are going to remember the events of last week and this week ~ either through your own personal experiences or via the events that take place in your friends’ and family’s lives as well as in the world at large.
My astrologer friend Heather Roan Robbins compares stopped and shifting planets to stirring a pot of tomato sauce very rapidly and then trying to reverse the spoon’s direction. You know what happens ~ resistance, lots of turbulence and sauce splatters out of the pot onto the stove and you….
The planets now moving retrograde ask us to consider the decisions we’ve made and actions we’ve taken since November 26. We’ll have the opportunity to revise or change our decisions and actions between now and the end of October 2014.
Mars retrograde in the sign of relationships will cause our relationships to be challenging, full of shifts and changes as we renegotiate the terms of the various situations we find ourselves in. Men, ruled by Mars, get VERY weird while Mars is retrograde. Mars is retrograde until May 20, 2014. Aries and Scorpio planets and houses, ruled by retrograde Mars, get weird and go backwards. Normally, you can’t get an Aries OR a Scorpio to change their mind or position. Now they will actually be open to negotiation and discussion. Or they will roll and take off for parts unknown. It is a great time to backtrack and retrace your relationship decisions and ideals. Take a time out from the relationship. Go on a relationship sabbatical ~ or at least put the contentious part of your relationship on hiatus. Focus on yourself. Focus on what YOU would like to do.
You can also hunker down and renegotiate the terms of the deal. Mars retrograde throws everything that is “settled” under the bus in search of a better solution. If you HAVE Mars retrograde, this actually is a GREAT time for you as things move forward (you DO march to a different drummer most of the time!). If you have to move, start a new job or otherwise take action to “begin” things while the planet of action is going backwards, no worries. You’ll probably want to revise it when Mars goes direct. Or you could find the deal, house, job or whatever was negotiate and settled on will yet again shift and change when Mars goes direct after May 20. Prepare for all contingencies. Don‘t put all your eggs in one basket ~ spread the eggs around a bit like the easter bunny does!
The Week’s Planetary Highlights
Sun in Pisces is quite busy this week with stressful aspects. No martyrdom. No whining. Sleep. Dream. Dance. Drum. Sing. Use positive Pisces energy to dream a new dream.
Mercury is traveling back, for the third and final time, across his shadow path until March 20, 2014. It is time, during the final pass, to get things cleared up before Mercury clears the 3 Pisces degree. Keep releasing those Mercury communication snags, snafus and stuck places especially while he’s in fabulous, smart, clear and exalted Aquarius through March 17, 2014.
Venus enters Aquarius on March 5, 2014 at 04:03:17 pm EST until April 5, 2014. Venus is detached, high flying, chilly, clear and uncommitted in Aquarius. She loves the unusual as well as the deep conversations, ideas and freedom to do what she wants. She has a pile of aspects that make her want to negotiate all sorts of new or improved money, love and desire deals. Let her have her way!
Mars is retrograde until May 20, 2014. MEN get weird. Aries and Scorpio houses and planets get weird. Things that seemed to be going along just fine, suddenly reverse or shift course or go off track because their ruler is going backwards for a few months. Relationships seem to be a mess or in dire need of something to fix them up. Don’t panic. Revise your plan. Let the other person leave without an ultimatum, a fight or a bad taste in their mouth ~ that way, when Mars goes direct, you can reconnect. It’s time for the MAN CAVE or the WOMAN CAVE. Retreat gracefully!
Jupiter stations and turns direct on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 05:42:03 am EST at 10°Cancer 26′. The stories from when Jupiter was at 10 Cancer on August 12, 2013 and his retrograde station, when forward motion stopped on November 7, 2013 at 20 Cancer, are back and active. Jupiter is about our deeper connections and relationships to our tribe, community and family group. As Kojak would say, “Who loves ya baby?”
Saturn is retrograde until July 20, 2014. All structures, foundation, authorities and situations that bind you or cause you fear are reversing! Saturn is 23 and back stopped at the degrees he was at from December 1984 to January 1985 as well as Fall 1985 and November 1955. Events from those years of your life can be up and repeating. So before you commit in October 2014, what, exactly do you want to CHANGE about the situation(s) before you?
Chiron parallels Juno on Thursday March 6, 2014 allowing us to see the healing as well as the wounding path in our relationships. Our deepest relationships help us heal our wounds because they see our soul. They hold the space to help us heal. Healing is possible now.
Pallas, moving retrograde, enters Leo until May 17, 2014. Create new playful, fun filled, frolicking and delightful patterns for yourself. If you don’t care for what you’ve created in your life, CHANGE IT! Take a happy, childlike approach ~frolic, amuse yourself, divert attention, fool around, jest, act as if, enact, perform and star in your life in the role you’ve always dreamed of! Hey, if you can’t have fun and star in your own life, where ARE you going to be a star or have fun?
Juno enters Aries on Monday, March 3, 2014 at 04:58:54 am EST making all established relationships want to start a new, create a blank slate, find a fresh page or jump on each other’s bodies and get naked! Juno in Aries wants to START NEW relationships ~ she’s not up for same old, same old. There are lots of forms that Aries energy can take ~anger, excitement, passion, hot- hot sex, or jealousy. It is time to take action with your partner (or vice versa). We are in fight or flight or new start mode until April 26, 2014. Ready. Set. Go! Stand back!

Moon Day Monday March 3, 2014 Moon in Aries goes void square to Venus offering the opportunity to over spend or overdo but it will be worth it! Your investment will pay off so make sure to go for it. Juno enters Aries today so partnerships are off to a rocking and rolling start. You’ll want to jump on opportunities that present themselves to you today and tomorrow. Mars is parallel Pallas so there can be power struggles around old patterns. Sun’s sextile to Pluto indicates you are ready to embrace your power on a different level. Stand clear in what you want to do and how you want to do it. Don’t let triangles or power struggles hold you down or distract you. Venus has a semisquare to Chiron so you see things you hadn’t seen before in ways you hadn’t seen them either! Yes, it WAS always like this. However, you didn’t notice it before. Now that you do, you’ll be paying attention to it going forward. Sun links up with Chiron offering an opportunity for healing and transformation on a deep and profound emotional level.
Mars Day Tuesday March 4, 2014 Mardi GRAS! ~Fat Tuesday Moon goes void square to Venus at 12:32:02 pm EST and enters Taurus at 02:13:10 pm EST. Today is a day to overdo and be proud of it. Another night of many dreams, we’re working on our relationships last night. You wake up with a brilliant idea that you should follow or act on at once. Aries Moon’s opposition to retrograde Libra Mars suggests you make a second pass at a situation that requires a clear position. Know your limits as well as your top and bottom range. Moon goes void with a square to Venus ~ you can overspend or over do but if you think it will be worth it ~ go for it! Sun aspects the Nodes of Fate making today a stressful yet productive day~ what direction do you want to head in? Feel the stress and take action in that direction. Venus ALSO squares the Nodes of Fate at the very, very, very last degree of Capricorn offering you an opportunity to change your life or your love in a profound way. Venus is in Capricorn where she’s been wandering since December ~ she’s ready to do something, anything. She wants so badly to move forward! Go for your dream! Taurus Moon’s sextile to Pisces Neptune says you are very fertile right now~ what do you want to create? Time’s a wasting!
Mercury’s Day Wednesday March 5, 2014 LENT BEGINS! Moon is in Taurus and goes void opposite Saturn ~ a day of sacrifice starts. Another active night of dreams and not a lot of sleep. The universe is shouting in your ears while you are sleeping! The morning holds much around connections that move you further along your path so pay attention to the good and bad news you receive. Venus square to Vesta encourages you to take a second look at things that are no longer loved in your life. Is there still some function they can serve or are they really done? Venus enter Aquarius and travels through it for a month. Venus in Aquarius is detached, clear and focused on the big picture, not the details. It separates rather than connects. Through the separation, it relates on an intellectual level ~ suddenly passions seem quaint. Venus argues for an adjustment to the definition of love with Pallas at the last degree of Virgo before she shifts into Leo (Pallas is moving retrograde) later today. Look at your definition of what love and desire is. Look at how you LIVE that definition of love and desire in your life. Where ever there are inconsistencies, smooth them out, iron them out, release or change them. We can do great things if trust and follow our bliss. Fear comes from trusting in your own power rather than your connection to the wider source of all life and energy. When we live in passionate presence in our lives, we connect to that greater source of love and power. Pallas enters Leo (retrograde) and encourages us to be more childlike so we can create our lives from a place of joy and abundance. Venus opposes the Black Moon Lillith arguing for our creations to come from love instead of a fear based place. Lent starts today offering us 40 days to break in a new habit or discard an old vice.
Jupiter’s Day Thursday March 6, 2014 Moon in Taurus goes void opposite Saturn at 08:55:51 am EST and enters Gemini at 09:38:27 pm EST. Moon is void all day long with separating aspects making today a GREAT day to part with things, people, possessions or ideas that you no longer want or which don’t serve your path any more. Jupiter stations in the night and moves forward once again in a sign he loves… after he gets a move on in a few days, you’ll feel less depressed, stuck and anxious. Organize papers or the home front so you can find things easily. Chiron’s parallel to Juno encourages personal healing on a deep level. A brilliant Jungian Analyst that I know, Maxson McDowell, explained that our intimate relationships, where we feel safe from the world and seen by our beloved are the primal holding spaces where we can safely evolve and become our best selves. Are your intimate relationships serving that function for you right now? If not, take time today to create a nurturing space for yourself by yourself. We can do the work internally if we connect to our soul and our divine inheritance. Take time to sit quietly and listen to your heart’s wisdom today. Focus on what you can nurture and take care of. If a relationship is causing you more anguish than support, take a time out from it today. Or for maybe longer? Juno’s square to Hades encourages us to separate from partnerships that are not supportive or those folks or situations who are driving us crazy. Throw away things that annoy you too! Moon’s trine to Venus at bedtime invites us to playfully connect with a sense of joy and laughter.
Friday Venus’ Day March 7, 2014 Moon is in Gemini and void trine to Mars making today and tomorrow particularly active and focused on how to get things accomplished. Sun is a bit stressed on how to get everything accomplished so the dreams are action packed and a bit out of control. Venus parallels Saturn awaking a serious energy around love and money ~ the focus wants to be serious instead of unclear or out of control. Organize your finances. Figure out your taxes! Moon’s square to Neptune makes it hard to get up and going this morning (lots of dreams last night) but once you are up and OUT of bed, things seem to fly by very rapidly. Venus squares Ceres midday so the detached desire nature is at a crossroads with the impassioned creative force ~ agree to disagree and proceed from that point. Time for separate Man and Woman caves? Venus is clear that she wants a different outcome than same old. However, she has to adjust her natural tendencies to allow the other to express themselves. Mars inconjunct to Admetos WANTS things to be the way he wants them. Unfortunately, that probably isn’t going to happen right now. If you can be patient, it might work out. Moon’s sextile to Uranus tonight encourages us to step forward in a new or exciting manner ~ try new approaches, eat new foods, experiment with change, creativity and ideas. If you have a first date tonight, it will be an interesting and exciting relationship IF it gets off first base. Give them a second chance.
Saturn’s Day Saturday March 8, 2014 Moon is in Gemini and goes void trine to Mars so today is particularly productive in actions, contracts, organizing, connecting and relating. Pallas retrograde aspects the Nodes of Fate and encourages us to focus on our habits, routines and rituals that create the structure of our life. Early morning finds us in a conflict between emotions and ego as Gemini Moon ~ she of many moods and ideas argues with Pisces Sun who just wants to stay in bed and sleep. Mid-day we make important connections or have a great idea that wants to be expressed through us. Take time to connect with people you love, like or care about today. Daylight savings time takes place tonight so we spring forward an hour and sacrifice an hour of sleep for more sunshine in our days!
Sunday Sun’s day March 9, 2014 Moon in Gemini goes void trine to Mars at 03:53:45 am EDT and enters Cancer at 09:34:07 am EDT. Moon is void during the night. Cancer moon during the day encourages us to connect, cook and nest with our loved ones. Mercury is quite active today encouraging connections with family and friends. Later in the day, you can receive news that is disturbing or discordant ~ use the energy to reassess how you need to change how you think about things or approach things. Tonight there is an opportunity to partner with yourself or another in a new way ~ take a fresh look at your relationships and how they contribute to your life. Moon’s trine to Neptune tonight says go to bed early as Day Light Savings Time just took back that extra hour of sleep!
