Somehow last week got away on me. It was Wednesday and I was finally sitting down to write the Weekly Weather. And then along came Mars! Mars was playing very aggressively with my chart! Between Mars and Saturn’s aspects to 8 points in my chart (Moon, Mars, Mid-heaven, Saturn, Venus, Ceres, Mercury and Juno), I am happy to still be here on earth and writing THIS week’s column.
Mars is still a very busy guy this week. In mutable water, he is darting like a little fish all over the heavens. As he’s in the last sign of the Zodiac, he is also ending things as he travels through the last bits of Pisces. Expect lots of goodbyes this week ~ planned and unplanned. Job offers, moves, deaths, breakups~ Mars in Pisces slips into our world and wraps up things! It is all to prepare for his entry into Aries and the beginning of a new Mundane cycle. So if you feel overwhelmed with all you have to do, you are exactly in the right place. He’s busy but he is slippery so things slip through the cracks. Unless you take yourself in hand, catch yourself so to speak and sit down to do that task at hand… like write your astrology column!!
Mercury stations and turns direct at 1: 18 Aquarius on Wednesday February 11, 2015. We travel back across his path until March 3, 2015. Mercury retrogrades bring ghosts back from your past, you connect with folks from other times, you hear things, you find out things and you change your mind about things. The truth, such as it is, comes out. Expect reversals. Double check all medical or emotional decision/opinions.
Venus meets up with Chiron on Monday, reactivating the wounds from ten days ago when Mars landed on Chiron with a thump. This will probably be when they pull the plug on Bobbi Kristina, Whitney Houston’s daughter. Bobbi Kristina was found non-responsive in a bathtub as Mars/Chiron met up in Pisces on January 31. For the rest of us, relationships and desires ruled by Venus can take it as a soul hit when Chiron gives Venus a solid kick in that seeing the soul part of her energy. Venus in Pisces is exalted BECAUSE she sees the other person’s soul. However, she’s living with us down here on earth where the soul seems to be in short supply lately. Now with Venus we are going to see their warts, wrinkles and how they are NOT our dream. We probably know what we want but can be deeply despairing of EVER having it happen. NO WORRIES!! We are in the vision stage of things right now ~ focus on YOUR VISION and what you want to create or move toward. You might find yourself feeling emotionally disillusioned about love, desire, pleasure or money this week. Venus ruled areas of our life and chart will be hurting as she and Chiron dance together through the heavens doing a bizarre Argentinian tango when they kick each other.
Ceres squares Uranus this week on Thursday, February 12 and joins up with Pluto on Sunday, February 15. Ceres starts a five year cycle around mothering, creativity and maternal energy which ends in January 2020. Of course, right BEFORE she starts the cycle, she ends one. Ceres is the grandmother energy, that wise and knowing woman who shows us how to nurture our moon and makes us club crackers with brie cheese. Often mom is overwhelmed. That’s when Gramma steps in and helps calm things right down. This week, the nurturing energy is very unstable and swirling around in a crazy making manner. First, the square from Uranus sets Ceres off and asks it to make a choice which we’ve known was coming but wished wasn’t. Then Ceres does some serious letting go on the parental or caretaking front as she approaches Pluto. And finally on Sunday, Ceres joins up with Pluto, square to the Nodes of Fate, whispering in our ears that we all will die, sooner rather than later, so what, exactly, do you want to DO with your life? Ceres is out of bounds so don’t be afraid to dream BIG and BOLD!!! Take the leap that Terence McKenna encourages in the opening quote. Hurl yourself into the abyss of hope, commitment, and dance the dream of your life. If it is in your heart, it is in your chart!
Uranus and Pluto continue to travel forward together, on the road again, separated by about a degree as they approach their final, seventh square on March 15. Their energy will continue to be intense. On any given day, you can be either Pluto or Uranus as you and the world bounce along in all this turbulent energy. The square keeps taking down folks who abuse their power or position ~ Amy Pascal of SONY stepped down after her emails were hacked and exposed. A huge NY politician, Sheldon Silver, the Speaker who never spoke except to say NO, was arrested on corruption charges for funneling millions of dollars to his law firm. Brian Williams, NBC News Anchor, lied about his experiences reporting, was exposed, apologized and went on vacation. Mothers and Fathers across America tell their children NOT to lie so how or if Brian will survive is doubtful. You have to tell the truth but he can lie and get paid $10 million dollars a year. Of course, if he DOES survive it, it tells us much more about US as a society and how far we’ve dropped in terms of our expectations of journalism and a free, unfettered right to an independent press that tell us what is actually going on. Expect more abuses and abusers of power to be exposed and taken down through mid-April when Pluto stations to go retrograde.
We enter a period of frequent day long void Moons because Saturn entered Sagittarius. The last degrees of the various planets are in early degrees in the zodiac. Take the day long void moons and use them to connect with your spiritual purpose on earth.
The Moon has two long void moons ~ Monday, and Saturday. Thursday morning she is void too. Monday’s Libra Moon has a lovely closing aspect of union to Jupiter. That Libra Moon, in the sign of partnerships is why the Grammys had so many DUETS on Sunday night. Moon enters Scorpio and gets a great deal accomplished Tuesday and Wednesday with her trine to Mars in Pisces. Sagittarius Moon Thursday afternoon and evening, Friday and all day Saturday is stressed out and rather crazy with her closing square to Mars. Moon is void most of Saturday ~ from 10:15 am to 5:24 pm EST. Moon in Capricorn the evening of Valentine’s Day adds a somber, serious note to the holiday of love. Her closing aspect of a sextile to Mars suggests you can get much accomplished over the long President’s day Weekend on Sunday and Monday ~ especially things related to your career, advancing in the world or working on those projects that just don’t get done during the busy crazy weeks we’ve been having lately.
There will be continue to be lots of departures of people hanging on by threads or who are sick or have emotional wounds. It is another big suicide and death or ending week. Connect and send lots of love to folks who are feeling depressed or suicidal or sad ….Mars in Pisces is ending matters with a note of sorrow…

There was a Full Moon last week on Tuesday night at 6:09 pm on the World Axis of Leo/Aquarius. A world famous astrologer, Jeff Jawer, is in the process of leaving earth ~ we are losing one of our “kings” ~ Leo rules kings ~ of “astrology” ruled by Aquarius. He decided to discontinue medical treatment. Folks are gathering on Facebook and in his hospice room bidding him farewell. Moon’s closing aspect is a conjunction to Jupiter. If you look high in the sky, you will see the Full Moon next to Jupiter, a bright and sparkling star to her left. Lots of Fire energy abounds in the world as well!
This Full Moon harkens back to her earlier phases: New Moon on August 6, 2013, Opening quarter on May 6, 2014 and right Now for the Full Moon. The closing quarter moon, another square will be November 3, 2015. Think back to the story from August 2013. The same story opens up and repeats in imagery, people and evolution in your life. As an example, August 2013 was the NCGR Conference in Philadelphia and my Saturn return. I always encourage my students to attend the “old astrologers” lectures as we don’t know how long they will be with us. I attended Jeff’s lecture at the ISAR Conference last Sept 2014 in Phoenix. (May 2014’s quarter moon was about conferences too!). Next phase, November 2015, I will have just finished speaking at my first OPA conference in Asilomar, CA. This family of Moons falls on my Ascendant and it is Aquarian which rules astrology and my relationship to the public.
The Full Moon is quite powerful and invites a reconsideration of the choices we’ve made in our lives. Aquarian Sun is dispassionate, watchful, cool and detached facing off across the heavens to a passionate Fire Moon. Expect Fire energy to be a bit out of control. In Valhalla, NY, there was a particularly fiery train/SUV car collision as a woman appeared to commit suicide by train. There was a huge fire, six deaths and a dozen injured as the electrified third rail penetrated the train car cabin and burst into flames. In the chart cast for the accident, Ceres, the mother planet, was out of bounds and squaring the nodes of Fate. The Nodes of Destiny were on the Arabic parts of Death, Saturn was on the part of Danger or Peril while Algol, the nastiest fixed star all about beheading and piles of corpses, was on the Mid-heaven. The crash took place a few minutes after the Full Moon at 6:09 pm as Moon/Jupiter moved to form a Finger of God with Pluto in Capricorn and Chiron/Mars in Pisces.
The Finger of God nestled within the Full Moon/Jupiter as the Apex means many of us will face a major moment of illumination or “fate” under the light of the Moon/Jupiter. Pay attention to the Fated moment or event(s) that the Finger of God brings to your attention. If no event takes place in your life, pay attention to what draws your attention in the events playing out around you. The Fated moment or event can happen any time between now and February 18.

Lynda Hill’s interpretation of the Image is Commentary: The ‘Street Pageant’ is seen ‘Moving Along a Street Packed With People’. People really enjoy a ‘Street Pageant’ or a carnival, they get together to celebrate their community, even if they aren’t directly involved in what’s being celebrated. Just watching the ‘Street Pageant’ can inspire fun, joy and even a sense of pride as people come out onto the streets to watch and enjoy.
Oracle: It may be some great achievement, or an anniversary event, that has spurred this ‘Street Pageant’. Any large celebration can bring the community together and create some type of recognition for what has been accomplished. Most people will contribute to and support this display and share in the festivities. However there will always be those who grumble about something; a lack of parking, too much noise or garbage being strewn about. Ignore the grumblers and go for it, you’ve done well and you and others deserve the fun and the rewards. You are either in the parade or watching it-what does it feel like to you? Are you celebrating and going for a display of community fun? Are you feeling a little out of your depth and at the mercy of the people around you? Is there disagreement over the values of what’s being celebrated? If things get out of hand in this situation, you may feel like you’re pressed in and can’t get out. There can be a feeling of being walled-in by too many people. Whatever is true put on a happy and expressive face and go out and enjoy what’s going on. If people let down their barriers, they will find it easier to relate to others they may have never seen or interacted with before. This can create a wonderful feeling of unity as people join in and come together as one.

Lynda Hill’s interpretation of the Image is Commentary: ‘Two Lovebirds Sitting on a Fence and Singing Happily’ is an image that brings to mind togetherness, friendship, happiness, love, and the rejoicing of relationship. The ‘Lovebirds’ may be singing happily, but as they are ‘Sitting on a Fence’ this could be masking a reality; perhaps they are not exactly happy; perhaps they are not so together. Today and tomorrow are exceptionally productive for all matters around taxes, finance, insurance and other people’s money ~ owed or owing. Venus’ square to Pallas makes it a great time to follow up on things that have fallen through the paperwork cracks. Ceres sesquiquadrate to Admetos suggests time is running out to appeal to the higher authorities on matters involving nurturing or caretaking. Dreams were pretty rocking last night so pay attention to what your unconscious is trying to tell you! Consciousness is part of the journey to your better self. Wednesday Mercury’s day February 11, 2015 Moon is in Scorpio and goes void Trine to Mars. Another productive day awaits us. But first we wake up after another wild and restless night of dreams ~jealousy and envy destroying relationships! Betrayal or delusions around relationships! Refusing to be subservient! Wounds that don’t want to heal! Final endings which are actually new beginnings but we don’t see it just yet! Seeing the patterns in our relationships~ especially our dynamics with power! Maybe the above are the themes of your day! It is hard to know when you are awake or dreaming these days. And maybe everything all IS a dream! Mercury stations to turn direct at 1:18 Aquarius. Pay especial attention to messages particularly those tied back to October 23, 2014’s time frames. Time to understand what you are understanding! Sometimes partnerships exist because the love is actually GONE! It is what they think they deserve. We don’t need to nor can we change what or how a person believes… we can offer them other ways of thinking or believing but the option to change rests in the individual’s hands. As Dick Gregory said “I don’t know why America always thinks she has to run all around the world forcing people to take our way of governance at the barrel of a gun,” he said. He paused for a sip of wine, and then added with a sly grin, “When you’ve got something really good, you don’t have to force it on people. They will steal it!” Apply that philosophy to the situation before you now…. If it was so great, people would be stealing the idea from you! We ALL watch what the other guy has. So partner with what you want to steal… and don’t steal it ~ create your own! Deep emotions flow tonight!
Jupiter’s Day Thursday February 12, 2014 ~ Moon in Scorpio goes void Trine to Mars at 00:33:23 am EST. Moon is void Thursday morning. Moon Enters Sagittarius at 11:47:35 am EST and goes void Square to Mars. Tough couple of days ahead! Uranus squares Ceres and the closing aspects are harsh and angry ~ full of tough emotions. We are NOT going to be feeling the love or very nurtured. So good old fashioned self-care is in order. Book space in your schedule so you can take a bit of time to care-take. It can feel like things are leaving that you don’t want to go. But go they must to create space for the new to arrive. Ceres in Capricorn is a harsh January energy of winter ~ kittens born in the winter need to be inside not under a mailbox someplace. Nurture your inner being. People are “expressing” themselves but aren’t necessarily kind or compassionate about it. Sun’s square to ocean goddess Sedna brings up the eternal nature of suffering and what to do about it. Friday Venus’s Day February 13, 2014 ~ Moon is in Sagittarius and goes void Square to Mars making it another tough emotional day full of flare ups! Relationships are splitting up and ending. Make SURE they actually SAID what you thought they said! Make sure you actually HEARD what they SAID. Lots of opportunities for missed or messed up communications. Once you ARE clear on what was said, move forward and own the energy. Break ups. Break downs. Breakthrough in the middle of the day. No lollygagging. Moon Enters Capricorn at 05:25:22 pm EST and goes void sextile to Mars. The beginning of the day is crabby. Things can end permanently in the morning. The back end of the day is great after the Moon enters Capricorn. Venus connects with the nodes of Destiny right after midnight so if you are still out on Friday night’s date, pay attention to who you meet or words of love spoken. They could be important. If you’ve rolled home, pay attention to what you find on the internet or in your email/ Facebook/ twitter accounts. Your tribe is arriving. Yes, it has been a long time coming but the new energy could be the place you’ve been waiting for! Say yes! Time to stop being subservient or dominant in the relationship and go for something more balanced for everyone. Sun’s day Sunday February 15, 2015 ~ Moon is in Capricorn and goes void sextile to Mars so today and Monday are very productive and full of opportunities to get things accomplished as befits the President’s Holiday. We are the President of our life! Get cracking! Moon in Capricorn is productive but also rolls through that square of Uranus and Pluto mid-day, squaring Uranus and joining Pluto. Today Pluto links up with Ceres to begin a 5 year cycle around caretaking, nurturing and transformation. Pluto wants you to own your power or at least embrace it. Ceres wants you to commit to a SERIOUS nurturing program that takes care of you and your body. Ceres is the Grandmother energy ~ the wise woman or crone energy that knows how things get done as well as how to do them Over the last few days, as Ceres approached Pluto we’ve lost some important caretaking energy in our life or the world. Expect a powerful story about the loss of a nurturing or maternal or matriarchal figure that captures the collective’s attention. We are each born to eventually be left by our parents when they die. We go on to live our life, without them. Today and Monday we’ll be asked how to step into that authority roll. Take a strategic, yet cautious approach. This is FATE in front of you. We have free will but at times there is FATE. FATE rules these few days. No more victims. We are in the roles we are in by our own agreement. This story represents an agreement at the highest level to ask us to pay attention to our own lives as well as what we have or do not have. Take extra time to nurture yourself today. Health matters can flare up so pay attention to your body’s message to you.
We each must become like fishermen, and go out on to the dark ocean of mind, and let our nets down into that sea. And what you’re after is not some behemoth, that will tear through your nets, follow them and drag you in your little boat, you know, into the abyss, nor are what we’re looking for a bunch of sardines that can slip through your net and disappear. Ideas like, “Have you ever noticed that your little finger exactly fits your nostril?”, and stuff like that. What we are looking for are middle-size ideas. Ideas that are not so small that they are trivial, and not so large that they’re incomprehensible. Middle-size ideas we can wrestle into our boat and take back to the folks on shore, and have fish dinner. This is what we should be looking for. It’s not for your elucidation; it’s not part of your self-directed psychotherapy. You are an explorer, and you represent our species, and the greatest good you can do is to bring back a new idea, because our world is in danger by the absence of good ideas. Our world is in crisis because of the absence of consciousness. And so to whatever degree any one of us can bring back a small piece of the picture and contribute it to the building of the new paradigm, then we participate in the redemption of the human spirit, and that after all is what it’s really all about. – Terence McKenna
