The Leo New Moon Eclipse and Your Superpower

Dear all,

Phew! Two Eclipses down, just one to go!

The 2018 Summer Eclipse Season is ALMOST over and the next (last!) one is actually kind of upbeat: welcome relief after all the hard energy of the past few weeks! The Leo New Moon Solar Eclipse takes place on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 5:57 AM Eastern US time.

It’s a wonderfully dynamic, active, busy chart, with a multitude of Major Configurations: five Hammers of Thor, four T-Squares, two Mystic Rectangles, two Grand Trines, one Finger of God, AND one Diamond. The winds of change are rocking and rolling.

When the chart is cast for Washington, DC — and this is the chart that governs the whole of the United States, since our nation’s capital is there — we find that the Sun in Leo is the ruler of the chart, with retrograde Mercury in Leo conjunct the Ascendant . . . and Mercury on the World Axis, squaring Jupiter on the World Axis, to boot! The God of Communications is ROARING. Look out for extreme news, especially about former deceptions. Lordy, there are tapes, witnessesand probably a paper trail.

Mercury in the chart is also functioning as the apex of a Finger of God, with Neptune and Pluto as the legs; he’s delivering information that will shatter your illusions and transform the direction of your life.

So also look out for new ideas coming in, inspirations whispering from the past.

Be careful what you ask for under this Eclipse, because you will probably get it! With Mercury on the World Axis, our requests are HEARD. And Fire and Earth, the predominant elements in the chart, mean manifestation of your vision.

Retrograde Uranus at 2 degrees Taurus is the highest planet in the chart, and he’s in a tight trine to retrograde Saturn at 3 Cap. The Lord of Chaos also squares Mars and the South Node, at 0 degrees and 5 degrees Aquarius.

Mars is still retrograde, too, of course, and he’s still WAY out-of-bounds; Mars and the South Node are dancing in the Sixth House of Routines. Their dual square to Uranus invites us to understand how our ordinary activities — habits, norms, rituals, everyday work — have contributed to get us where we are. Want to move in a new direction? Ask Uranus to help you shake up those encrusted behaviors. (His trine to Saturn will help you build new ones!)

Within 48 hours after the Eclipse, retrograde Mars will reenter Capricorn, where he’ll help us revisit our work, see the fruits of our labor, and ask us to make something wonderful with them. Too many patty pan squashes from the CSA? Time to start Googling recipes, before they go bad.

Uranus is also parallel to Regulus, the Heart of the Lion, asking you to assume the mantle of leadership. You don’t have to do it that way, just because that’s the way they did it. Mercury, Pallas Athena, and the Sun and Moon in Leo echo the same thing. Be the king or queen of your own life.

I have recently been having conversations about “origin stories” (inspired, perhaps, by Jupiter in Scorpio). Peter Parker got bitten by a radioactive spider, which gave him the power to sling webs. How about you? When I was small, I stuck a hair pin into a socket and shocked myself pretty bad. Since then, besides having a deep-seated fear of electrocution, I have been an aficionado of other Aquarian concerns — astrology, computers, and nonconformity!

My assistant Kate has bee stories: one of her first memories is getting stung in the armpit, and weeping with regret because she’d accidentally crushed the little bug. Kate is a busy-bee Gemini, an amazing communicator with a multitude of interests; she now keeps a windowbox garden, talks to the fairies, and sometimes finds wasps nestled in her hair! (And at five, she made a drawing for her mom with the text “Bees Can Sting You, Watch Out!” which was ultimately framed and displayed on Bill Clinton’s desk in the White House.)

When Rose, my other assistant, was around three, she tried climbing a bookcase to reach a favorite story; it tipped, and she was almost crushed by books. Some of them must have whacked her in the head, because a fascination with literature is her superpower.

So, what’s your heroic origin story? And how close or far are you from living it out? This Leo New Moon Eclipse says, take pride in your strength and uniqueness. No one else can walk your epic journey for you.

If you’d like to learn more about this month’s Leo Eclipse, and how you can identify YOUR origin story, please consider joining me for my next New Moon Manifestation Circle webinar, on Monday, August 6 at 7:30 PM Eastern.

Hang in there, all! We’re almost through.

Big hugs,
Anne
