15:41 Virgo Sun and Moon

The New Moon chart cast for Washington, DC finds the Sun and Moon rising in the first house indicating the chart has a great deal of energy, especially around and about revising our lives. The Sun and Moon are encouraged to take action and be decisive.

Virgo rules the Sun, Moon, Part of Fortune, Ascendant and Gemini rules the Midheaven. All of them answer to retrograde Mercury in the 12th house, yet near to the Ascendant. That makes Mercury the most important planet in the chart. Mercury is conjunct the Fixed Star Thuban which is part of the dragon constellation, Draco. Seekers of solitude with a strong mental ability, Thuban contacts in a chart often indicate the desire to actively hoard or guard the feminine or treasures while at the same time wanting recognition for creating them and wanting public acclaim. Hermann Goring, with Thuban and Mercury in relationship, used the war to acquire beautiful treasures for himself from countries conquered. Picasso had Thuban joined to his Sun and created in solitude over 20,000 works. Each were valued treasures that appeared on earth through his life force. Watch out for sacred matters or creative matters that degenerate or dissolve into jealously guarded physical treasures. Use the positive energy of Thuban to be more fruitful and creative in your life and thoughts. Seek spiritual and material treasures. Don’t worry about giving and sharing your gifts ~ they won’t be used up. Thuban makes you have an unlimited creative gift.

Mercury with Thuban is retrograde in changeable earth is trine to Pluto and the North Node of Destiny in action taking earth, supporting our changes and our new or revised ideas about how to proceed with making our physical changes, grounding and building or rebuilding our lives. How are we going to create the treasures that will support and surround our life? The planets in earth support our physical actions, rather than our ideas, visions or emotions, around out lives. So take action. Take action. Take action. Create. Manifest. Use that juicy energy up and get it out into the world. Seek to create treasures that others want to hoard.

Make a punch list, like when you move into a new place, of all the things you want to accomplish physically using the New Moon energy. Start to work on checking things off that list! You are moving into your next chapter of life ~ a punch list can be a valued tool in getting ready. You will be surprised at how far, fast and easy it is to MAKE actual, physical and real life changes in your life using the New Moon energy.

It is a great New Moon to change your HABITS and ROUTINES as Virgo is the sign where we establish our regular, reliable, day to day, minute to minute, very mundane and predictable habits and routines. Now, with the ruler of our habits and routines going backwards, Mercury supports us in making needed changes in revising the outdated or worn out habits. Pluto is still going backwards, renovating, revising and evolving the actual structures in our lives. Mercury is changing our actions and thoughts around those Plutonian triangular or power based structures. What actually IS your power in this situation? What actually IS your role in the story? Who are the other players? Expect transformation of the structures in your life to shift and change until Pluto goes direct on September 14. We can expect VERY POWERFUL shifts between the September 11th and 15th as Mercury and Pluto both station to go direct in a trine supporting changes and in earth signs which make things happen.

Jupiter and Uranus are setting and on the fixed star SCHEAT. A rather nasty fixed star, the Moon’s closing aspect is an opposition to Scheat as well as Jupiter and Uranus suggesting we can make emotional decisions that cause us to undermine or destroy ourselves under the influence of the New Moon. Scheat is one of the more difficult fixed stars as it relates to extreme misfortune, murder, suicide and drowning. Ebertin says if you can get past the mortal accident that awaits you, it offers a great flow of mental creativity. Scheat has an unpredictable nature, combining difficult or permanent endings based on actions we take that undermine ourselves.

So, what’s positive about Scheat? It has a brilliant intellect with great creativity that flows from it. Think independently. Break with your conventional thoughts or philosophies or old out-of-date belief systems. And keep your mouth shut. You aren’t WRONG. But you don’t have to say it. Words can be very strong and powerful under this New Moon.

Don’t take actions that can undermine your physical body or emotional needs. No unnecessary operations. If you’ve been dying to “have it out” with someone, recognize that the energy of the fixed star Scheat can very well lead to a permanent and final ending. Got a desire to actually “end” your relationship with someone? This star can help you end it as it’s link to Pegasus the winged horse constellation allows you to gallop off and escape. At the same time, when is the last time you rode a winged, magical horse? Be careful up there!

Mars is approaching a trine to Neptune so we may take actions with the best of intentions and yet find our plans thwarted. Fortunately, Venus is past her trine to Neptune so we are able to see the problems and situations clearly. Venus is also inconjunct to Uranus, Jupiter and Scheat so this is not a great New Moon for personal relationships unless you are coming together to create something and can remain very flexible and live in the moment about it.

The chart is a see-saw chart with Pluto riding shotgun, indicating relationships and the dynamics of same are a particular focus for all of us. Plus Venus is at the anaretic degree of Libra talking to Mars, Uranus, Jupiter, Chiron and Neptune. Be creative. Be clear and clean in your relationships. Figure out a way to get the work done and out into the world.

Finally, the fixed star Zosma is joined to the Part of Fortune and the Ascendant. A star in the constellation of the Leo, Zosma represents where there is a transition from one life to another. Often Zosma is present in charts where people work to help victims in society. It can be involved in situations where people are either directly or indirectly made powerless. Finding Zosma as a rising star conjunct the Part of Fortune and the Ascendant, suggests the New Moon will ask us to look at where we feel we have no power and make sure we guard against being abused by the system or establishment. Mother Teresa was born with Zosma rising and she dedicated her life to helping those less fortunate than herself.

Again the heavens ask us to look at our life’s dreams and work on creating them under the New Moon. We are not victims of our fate. We are co-creators with the universe using the unique energy of our chart’s constellation to help us live our soul’s desire.

New Moon‘s are excellent for rituals that support actively working with the energy they describe. The New Moon takes place at 6:30 am EDT in the morning. You have until the opening crescent, 45 degrees later ~ the three days after the New Moon, to perform creative rituals. Decide if you want to use either the Virgo New Moon‘s opposition to Uranus to release and let go of things or the Libra energy of a conjunction to Mars to take action to create and partner with things. Or both! After 11:45 am EDT on September 8, Venus enters Scorpio where she completely shifts the energy of the Moon into a very passionate place ~ sending that Libra energy into overdrive.

Lynda Hill’s interpretation of the Sabian Image for the New Moon in Virgo is DELIGHTED CHILDREN CROWD AROUND THE ORANGUTAN CAGE IN A ZOO

Commentary: ‘Delighted Children Crowd Around the Orangutan Cage in a Zoo’, pictures young people pressing together to observ
e intriguing and wonderful a
nimals that are unusual to them. They don’t have a chance to see these animals in their everyday life. Grown ‘Orangutans’ are very similar to ‘Children’, they are said to have a similar mental capacity to that of a five year-old. ‘Children’ have great fun watching their antics. The ‘Orangutan’ can also be seen observing the ‘Children’ The responses of wonder and curiosity are obviously evident in the ‘Delighted Children’, but may well be what the ‘ORANGUTAN’ are experiencing, also. The ‘Children’ are watching to see what will happen and they take pleasure in the things they can relate to.

Oracle: This Symbol expresses the desire to relate across gulfs of differences that are very obvious between different species. When we observe the life of an ‘Orangutan’ it is like looking into an evolutionary mirror. We are able to see where we have been, how differently we can relate to the world, and how we have chosen to deal with our environment. It is not a matter of the human species being better; the experience is just different. What one comes to realize is the degree of similarity that is felt. Sometimes people we encounter in life seem to be from a different species (or planet!) and have a totally different perspective of life, leading to completely different ways of acting and reacting. It can, at times, lead to a feeling of separation, but there is value in remaining aware of and appreciating the similarities and common ground along with the differences. There may need to be a “primitive”, or ‘Childlike’ response to this situation. It is by facing the baser instincts that you can realize a fresh, new approach to those you encounter in your life.

Keywords: Karmic confrontations between the creatively integrated and the unevolved. Objects of derision, fascination or worship. Showing off or acting to get a reaction from others. Trying to relate to others that don’t understand. Feeling like one is in a zoo. Observing others. Curiosity. Crowding around. Everyone wanting to have a look. Going by instincts. Television shows such as Jerry Springer. News networks. The media.

The Caution: Egoistic feelings of being better or in a higher state of evolution. Having no place for privacy. Gaping at others. Taunting people. Daring others to do something outrageous or animal-like. Making fun of people because they are different. Responding without any social inhibitions. Building cages. Hiding from view. Fences and barriers. The intrusion of the media (beating up stories). Eliciting sick behavior from others.
