I keep forgetting the “It’s May, It’s May” song! We’ve had so much darned Aries fighting, arguing and shouting I AM energy that I completely missed the entrance of the sun into Taurus and the lusty month of May. Beltane and May Day just slipped right by without proper acknowledgement! Admittedly, we were all quite busy the past few weeks with other things. Now, here we are half way through May, and it is time for a song about lust before the eclipses come and carry us away next month!
This week Venus and Mercury join the Sun and Mars in Taurus. We are going to be feeling the frisky flow of Venus’ pulse of life in our bodies. And so, onto May and Taurus and all their glories…

And, when we ritualize something, we, as co-creators of our individual lives, exclaim to the heavens “Hey YOU planets up there! ARE you LISTENING TO ME? I HAVE a request (Taurus words ~ I have)

In our week ahead, Venus and Mercury are still dancing and giggling with each other. Only now, Mercury takes the lead and passes Venus. She’s slowing down to smell the flowers and dance amidst all the life blooming around her. Venus has a number of aspects around creating love and money this week, enhancing her power and creativity with a trine to Pluto. She loves to be in Taurus, which she just entered. She also meets up with Neptune and had her dreams energized.
Mercury is silent now as he’s in earth so words fail us but touch helps and actually is BETTER to use for communication. Put a hand on a back, hold a hand, or give a hug when words fail you. It is a heart energy without words that beats strong and solidly when Mercury is in Taurus. Mercury is picking up speed and catches up with Mars in Taurus to begin a new cycle of action around ideas and things of the body. If you’ve been “meaning to” undertake a physical health regime but haven’t quite found the hours or time, Mercury/ Mars will help you carve out a special section in your life this week. And next week’s Venus/ Mars aspect encourages a new year long cycle around beauty, grace and your body. Ah the lusty month of May!
All this Taurus activity means the heavens are no longer ultimately disposited by, ruled or responding to Mars in Aries‘ orders. Now the Goddess of Love, in her favorite sign, steps forward to lead the planets in their heavenly dance. The Sun, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Chiron, Neptune, Pluto, both Nodes and the asteroids Juno, Ceres, Athena and Vesta ~ each and every one of them answers to Venus in Taurus! The universe is alive with creative, erotic communication ~ full of love, desire and passion as the planets above listen to Venus in earthy Taurus and take actions in her name and on her behalf.
On a physical level, we can have a lot of earth or MUD ~ witness the flood waters let loose by the Army Corps of Engineers which engulf a section of land the size of the state of Connecticut in Louisiana, saving New Orleans and Baton Rouge but definitely creating lots of mud else where in the state.
We also have a deep awareness of our bodies when Venus is in Taurus ~ the sign of her lusty, luscious, loving, fertile energy. This is one of those times when lots of love connections will be made as Venus ignites passions that previously lay dormant.
And we want to clear out the things in our life that are no longer beautiful or beloved. Venus encourages you to see the pattern in holding on to all those broken things that you are going to fix one of these days. Married to Vulcanus, she knows that, “NO, you really are NOT going to fix it.” So if it has been lying around the house or office broken and crying out to be repaired, either fix it or get rid of it this week. Hanging on to broken, cracked or less than beautiful objects, unless you deeply love them with their cracks and all, drains the Goddess of Love‘s energy and prevents her from bringing you things you would actually love more.
We also have the most fertile Full Moon of the year, the Scorpio Full Moon, Tuesday May 17, which is simply great for making babies, making love, planting things and encouraging things to take root and grow.
Finally, the Sun enters Gemini (boy am I glad I got that Lusty Month of May song in! Just in time too!) and starts to change Spring into Summer in the Northern Hemisphere and Fall into Winter in the Southern Hemisphere. Sun introduces you to people who are important for your future even as he gets a bit disillusioned by a dream that doesn’t come true this week.
Sun’s hard aspect to Neptune helps you see something clearly, all things have limitations as do all people. You can be disillusioned with this energy. We don’t live in a perfect world, and perfection is not at all what it is cracked up to be. When you find yourself feeling distracted, betrayed or disillusioned focus back on Venus and her purpose in our lives.
Venus is about the creative, the erotic, the sensual, the senses, the physical communications that find us in our solid little loveable bodies here on our beautiful planet earth. One of my favorite memories of all time was watching my 3 year old friend Brianna eat spaghetti at my favorite diner. By the end of the meal, red sauce was every place you could imagine, all over the table, her clothes and her face. She sat back, rubbed her saucy, messy hands together and pronounced, “That was GREAT!” Then, she swept her bangs back, using marinara sauce as a new kind of styling mousse. THAT is Venus in her sensual and beloved glory ~ does the rest of the stuff REALLY matter?

Moon Day, Monday May 16 finds Moon in Scorpio with a Full Moon separating aspect so today is a great day to release things that you no longer want. If you want to release your house ~ list it. If you want to release some pounds, start a diet. If you want to let go of your bad behaviors, start now. The Full Moon tomorrow morning is the most fertile moon of the year so today and in the next few days we have fabulous closing aspects for creating and bringing in abundance as the entire heavens answer to Venus in Taurus. Mercury and Venus meet up for the second time in two weeks, this time in Taurus. Words and ideas of love or creativity spring from this union. Mercury and Venus also both sextile Neptune in early Pisces today asking you to become clear on the dream. Words and desire link up with the creator of dreams. Take concrete steps to put your plans into action. The last month with the planets in Aries, was about the vision of what was to come. Now, we move into the practical, down to earth, reality of how to create what we want. We have to DO things to HAVE the Taurus energy create in form for us. Mars joins with Vesta by declination asking you to clear out the home and office nests to make room for the new growth to arrive. You can find a new house or home today if you are looking. Or take action to release your home if you are trying to sell it.
Mars Day, Tuesday May 17 The Full Moon in Scorpio takes place right before the Moon goes void for the morning. This is the most fertile moon of the year as Taurus Sun of creativity combines with Moon in Scorpio and the 8th house of creativity and reproduction. Once the Moon enters Sagittarius later in the day, it has lovely closing aspect of a trine to Jupiter in Aries ~ both answering to Venus in Taurus ~ fiery inspiration that leads you to get a great deal accomplished over the next three days. Sagittarius Moon wants us to shoot our arrows high into the heavens and ask for, sing to, dance with our heart’s desire. Sun joins with Admetos today so something ends and lets go today. It can be a beloved thing that ends even as the Spring begins to bloom. See the patterns of how you co-create today. Each of the relationships in your life is there because you choose to have it in your life. You can, at any moment, choose to change or be inspired by it. Energy in a chart often manifests at the lower levels unless we “push” it a bit ~ push the low energy in your life today towards something higher, or into a higher form. There are lots of ways for things to manifest ~ focus your intention on other forms you might like better. Sun in late Taurus talks to both Saturn and Jupiter about the bigger picture of your life. Think back on your earlier dreams and hopes. Look forward to where you are heading and what calls your heart. Resolve to let go of the things that no longer work for you ~ let them fall away from your life.
Mercury’s Day. Wednesday May 18 Moon in Sagittarius combines with Saturn to get a great deal accomplished today. Make a list and wHOOSh through it. You’ll find the energy scattered but wanting to ground and create today. Mars starts with a bit of pain as works with Chiron to reawaken old wounds. But by days’ end, you see what or why they needed to be awakened. Mercury is a bit stressed and anxious today so let him have a fuss if he needs to. He can get overwhelmed by things when he is in word free Taurus ~ how does fixed earth talk? Like Demosthenes, you may find your mouth full of stones or pebbles rendering you inarticulate. No worries. Feel the feelings ~ in many cases they don’t HAVE words. You might have to adjust your dream a bit to make it fit into the current circumstances but that does not mean abandoning your dream. It is a day for illness or colds so watch for symptoms and take care to get extra sleep today. You don’t really have time to be sick. Your family of choice is getting on your nerves today as they remind you of your family of origin. So take some time for yourself and get out doors to enjoy the beautiful, lusty month of May. Venus is in the mood to try something unusual that she doesn’t normally do ~ go for it.
Jupiter’s day, Thursday May 19 Moon in Sagittarius is void most of the day starting at 10:17 am EDT making this a terrific day to whip through projects that Void Moon’s love. Sagittarius moon, powered by its trine to Jupiter, is still quite productive as she finishes up things right and left. There is a chance to have a bit of a fight this evening around 10:30 pm or an accident so be careful ~ especially with old things that are fragile. Mercury talks to Chiron and Kronos so he makes intellectual sense of what Mars was struggling to get moving forward with yesterday. Still no words but it feels a bit better. Whatever the struggle was yesterday, today you figure out what to do about it.
Venus’ day, Friday May 20 great day for a Venus ritual about love with Moon in practical Capricorn trining all the planets in earthy Taurus. In order, Moon stimulates our sense of Love and desire, our communications and connections, our ability to take action to get what we want, and our desire for profound transformation and deep experiences. With all that earth flying around talking to itself, we can manifest stuff today! Moon’s closing aspect is a square to Jupiter so watch for excess but hey, isn’t that what the lusty month of May is for? Venus makes aspects of love and understanding to the issues that Mars and Mercury struggled with earlier in the week. When we get right down to what we remember it is the love filled and the not so love filled parts of our lives. Today with Venus in trines to so many planets we want to remember the love filled parts. Mars an Mercury both trine Pluto adding an element of HUGE desire to the story. Look at what calls your heart today. Venus is a quiver and wants to help you create. Mercury joins up with Mars and the two of them sing and dance with joy. Take actions to create your ideas.
Saturn’s Day Saturday, May 21 Moon in Capricorn continues to process all the action from yesterday as she moves towards her closing square to Jupiter. Psychologically process the energy today. Sun enters Gemini at 5:21 am and lightens up as he looks at the world from both sides now. You can get difficult words or news today about endings as Mercury is in a face off with Saturn who says No to him. Venus trines Pluto in earth and wants to get physical so make sure she gets some exercise or out into the beauty of the world. She’s adding a twist to the story that started on February 9, 2011 around love and relationships. Listen to her desires speak to your heart. Act on them. Sun connects with the Nodes of destiny so make sure to notice who comes into your life this evening as they are important for your future. Keep nipping that cold in the bud by getting plenty of sleep.
Sun’s Day, Sun day, May 22 Moon in Aquarius is productive and another busy bee as the collective and group energy comes forward. Sun in Gemini squares Neptune so dreams can be deep and confusing. You’ll wake early and leap out of bed with a pile of things to do today. Moon squares all the Taurus planets so the afternoon is a bit stressed and not so much fun as Moon squares Venus, Mars and Mercury. Be clear about what you are attempting to accomplish under this Moon as the energy can get out of hand and feelings can be hurt. Mercury is opposite Poseidon so feelings are deep and strong. Mars has a stress filled aspect so taking actions can be anxiety producing. Mars joins with Neptune by declination so emotions are very strong and deep today.
