We enter the week between Christmas and New Years and the middle section between two powerful eclipses on the Capricorn/Cancer, one of which took place on the World Axis. The events taking place during the eclipse season (December 7, 2010 to January 18, 2011) will change our lives in very far reaching ways. We certainly saw it with the legislation passed during the “lame duck” session of Congress as bills virtually danced through both houses and were signed into law. We can see major changes happening in our lives too if we know where to look!
Pay attention to the houses ruled by Saturn and the Moon ~ the Capricorn, Aquarius and Cancer houses ~ to see where your life is changing. Notice what information you‘ve been receiving lately that has been life altering, mind expanding or consciousness shifting. What words or information has changed how you think about your life and your situation?
Mercury is retrograde and talking up a storm in Sagittarius. Free speaking. Frank with no holds barred words. Straight shooting of an arrow into the heavens. Whether you want to know it or not. Mercury in Sagittarius tells it like it is ~ the good, the bad, the ugly, the truth. Siblings, cars, connections and communications will be kind of out of control and causing problems all week as Mercury slows to stop and turn direct. Watch for pivotal words this week. Some times thing spoken cannot be taken back. Back up your data. Insure your cell phone. Evaluate your email and data passwords. Double check the to/cc/bc fields on email sent.
The thing to know about the words spoken this week is that they ARE TRUE ~ at least for the person who is saying it. You, as the recipient, might not think they are true but the person saying them thinks they are true. Thus you have an opportunity for profound insight if you listen to what people say this week. They are talking their truths. Eclipses make all sorts of things come to the surface for all to see. So look. No fears. You don’t have to DO anything with what you see or hear. You simply have to see and hear it.
Over the holidays, I watched “Invictus”, the Morgan Freeman/ Matt Damon movie about the Rugby World Cup. It was quite a moving movie about how change can and does take place, in seemingly impossible situations, due to people moving beyond what they think they can do, shifting their world view, and dedicating themselves to a vision or purpose that inspires them. In the movie, Morgan Freeman, playing Nelson Mandela, cites a poem called “Invictus” that inspired him to keep going during his 29 year Saturn cycle locked up in jail for speaking truth to power and agitating for change to the apartheid system in South Africa.

I am not a sports person, despite having coaches and athletes in my family tree, so when Invictus came out, I didn’t see it. A rugby movie? Please. But sitting in my very athletic sister’s family room ~ a Division 1 Basketball Coach, scratch handicap golfer, and phenomenal snow boarder ~ I watched it. And jumped around a lot at the end when it got very exciting, moving and full of gracefully taught instructions on how to deal with major changes in your world and your world view. Rent Invictus or catch it on HBO over the next few weeks as you deal with the eclipses changing your life and world view.
If they can do it … you certainly can!
Whenever we are faced with life changing events, such as right now, it helps to have a guide to get us through it. The movie spoke about what was needed: Dedication. Vision. A sense of belief in the possible. Suspending disbelief about the improbable. Working on it. Showing up. Speaking the truth. Giving your dream legs. Focusing single mindedly on it. Going for it.
We are each at a crossroads, being asked to envision our future and what it holds. Right now, with Mercury retrograde and fighting with Venus in Scorpio, you may know more what you DON’T want. It is often easier to identify that at times rather than what you do want. That is totally fine. In the Don’t Want List is the photographic negative of the Do Want List. Like a photographic negative, the positive image is embedded in the reverse imagery. Write your Don’t Wants for the time being. Focus on releasing your Don’t Wants as the Eclipses process and release the karma, the drama, the events from June 2009 and June 2010. Release, release as the Moon narrows in the sky. Psychologically process the emotional events of the eclipse to get to the next chapter.
Next week, on the NEW MOON eclipse on January 4th, we will convert that Don’t Want List into the affirmative Do Want List. Be clear on the Don’t Wants.
The other thing to look at is what you are very angry about or extremely frustrated by. Right now, that is and can be the source of an enormous amount of power and creative fuel WHEN YOU CHOOSE TO redirect that angry or frustrated energy into a positive use instead of toward hateful, nasty or mean activities. Mars is in Capricorn ~ the sign of his exaltation. He’s involved with Saturn helping you work through old karmic blocks as he approaches his crisis of an opening square this week. Clearing the karma is what it is called.
Whatever the situation is, it existed and exists to get you clear, crystal clear, on what you just don’t want any more of any more. You are so done. Take the anger and turn it towards a positive vision of your future. Don’t focus it on the person who caused you pain or frustration. Turn and move out into the world toward your OWN dream with all that Mars energy. Forget them. Don‘t focus on how they ~ your mother, sister, brother, child, spouse, partner, boss, co-worker or the situation before you doesn’t meet your needs. No temper tantrums. Have they EVER met your needs? Or have you been working hard, very hard, to get them to love you, value you, care for you, appreciate you or some other version of bending over backwards to get what you want. Stop looking for it from them. It is not there. They can’t do it for you.
As the closing lines of Invictus says:
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
You are the master of your fate. You, yes, you. No excuses. No blame. Just own it. And move forward. If you don’t like the fate you have, what you have created, then change. Change because you are the master of your fate! Be the captain of your soul! Take those sails in hand and heart. Look to see which way the wind is blowing and push off.
Monday December 27 Moon in Virgo goes void at 7:20 am and is void all morning until 12:38 pm Eastern, screwing up the morning commute. Moon’s last aspect is an opposition to Jupiter and Uranus so unexpected delays take place and separate you from what you thought you were going to be doing. Here on the East Coast of the USA, we are buried under a snow blanket of several feet, completely closing airports, freezing mass transit, bollixing up travel and transportation plans. No one is moving. Mars is square to Saturn and doesn’t perfect until Wednesday so we can anticipate not moving very much, if at all, untill then. Moon goes into Libra and fights with the Capricorn planets by closing square. While we’d LIKE to make the world a better place, today we are frustrated in that effort. Just breath and focus on what you can actually do something about. Lots of aspects today that are irritated and irritating. Pallas joins with the Node of Destiny so take a different approach to how you are going about things. You actually have a great idea so follow up on it. It is a healing day for emotions as you figure out things you hadn’t thought of before. All supportive and connected if you let it flow. Reconnect with folks you’ve been meaning to get back in touch with. Appreciate the passage of time and understand how age makes you wiser. You are so much wiser than you were before. And it just keeps getting better. Mercury and Venus plot together today as they are talking to each other about how to get what they want.
Tuesday December 28 Moon in Libra has a closing trine to Neptune so you can do something wonderful for your loved ones today. In fact, if you do allow yourself to relax into the energy of the day, you’ll make some astounding discoveries about what you love to do. Moon squares Mars who is blocked by his squared to Saturn. Man-ya-na! Tomorrow. Or maybe the next day? What is the rush? Why push the energy that doesn’t want to be pushed? Float in the connections that are supportive of you and your loved ones or your loved activity. There are sesquiquadrate that indicate you might have stress over NOT doing something but why. Life is short. Moments like the ones available today help you understand what is important in life. Listen to your inner wisdom. Mercury is slowing to a stop so he wants you to pay attention to what you hear over the next few days. Mars is blocked in taking action as he approaches his square to Saturn. You aren’t supposed to be moving forward easily.
Wednesday December 29 Moon in Libra ends pushing and encouraging your dream with a trine to Neptune. A long void moon, from 10:05 am to 3:49 pm Eastern supports roaming and taking the day off to play. Mars finally finishes his square to Saturn so things will start to move again. You will feel much less frustrated after mid-morning. Venus has a number of aspects today as she moves to the back end of Scorpio ~ allow her to feel her emotions and get in touch with her desires after her long, long journey in Scorpio. She is in the mood to create again. Juno trines Ceres so the feminine asteroids are cooperating in the heavens offering a family and partner connection to help you expand your creative energies and see new possibilities, through the vehicle of frustration or the ability to finally take action.
Thursday December 30 Moon in Scorpio is passionate and profound, talking to all the planets in early Capricorn creating very Fertile earth to plant new life and move in a new direction using a bit of work or vision on your part. Mercury stations and turns direct so pay attention to what you learned yesterday, today and tomorrow. The messages from the Lord of Communication are important and contain information you need to proceed. Hygeia is joined to Poseidon so emotions around illness and health can be deep and profound. If you have medical tests scheduled for these days, double check the results as the Messenger of Information is stopped in the sky. Better to postpone to next week’s New Moon and forward moving Mercury. Neptune has a gift of brilliance around your home so redecorate or restore or revise the vision of what you are trying to create. Send off last minute checks to charities you believe in helping to build and support their dreams. Almost the last day for those charitable deductions!
Friday December 31 Moon in Scorpio leaves with a surprising twist as it trines Jupiter and Uranus in Late Pisces and squares Neptune and Chiron. First Moon joins Venus to hear her understanding and wisdom gained from the 100 days she spent wandering in the Path of Fire and in the swamp with the shadow side of her nature. Venus in Scorpio is almost finished with her job and journey to help you get clear on what you really want as well as what you really DON’T want going forward. Allow the Moon and Venus to hold the energy with each other. Moon will go through the late planets getting them ready for Venus to do the same next week after the New Moon Eclipse. Today the emotional content is understood and, hopefully, released BEFORE we plant the seeds for the new road before us. My friend M had a first date with a Leo who has been going through a tough time lately, descending down the ladder of luck and good fortune, losing job after job. When she asked him what he had learned from the experiences, he blamed the other guy. He replied, after he related that he had been fired for falsifying his expense report, “Well every one does it!” Perhaps. But Leos are not allowed to be less than honorable or honest. Your Sun sign and Saturn have laid out how you are supposed to behave. If you are getting less than you want or think you deserve, take back that blame energy. Look at how you are betraying or not being true to your part or path. Own it. Release it. Then vow to sin no more. Saturn is paying attention ~ look at all the planets in Capricorn. We are reaping what we sow right now. And what we sowed before. Think of it as being kind of like instant karma~ drop in some hot water and stir…. What is the higher vision of your life?
Saturday January 1, 2011 Happy New Year! Moon in Sagittarius has no aspects and the balance of aspects for the day are quiet. Moon has harsh separating aspects as she leaves Sagittarius so be careful about what you release or start today as it can inadvertently cause an ending. Family energy is stalled and crabby today ~ just in the mood to nag or complain. Great day to organize things for the New Year! No complaining about what you don’t have. Focus on what you do have.
Sunday January 2, 2011 Moon in Sagittarius closes with a separating square of consciousness to Jupiter and Uranus leaving something permanently behind and changed forever. Moon in Sagittarius is visionary and works hard to create a new reality. Venus separates permanently from something, releasing, ending, cutting its head off and breaking free. Watch for volatility with words today as harsh words spoken can’t be recalled. Sure, it might be true… but if you say it, the relationship can end.
Monday January 3, 2011 Back to work we go after the holidays! Moon in Capricorn adds a solemnity to the reentry to work. The Moon‘s closing aspect is a sextile to Venus offering us good results as earth and water make fertile mud to grow things in. The New Moon eclipse tomorrow will seed wonderful energies in your life. Make sure to release, release, release today under the ending dark of the moon energy. Let go of what no longer serves you. Recognize through the dreams from last night the patterns that want to die and be reborn anew as different behaviors as Pluto joins with Pallas Athena to create new strategies and visions of how to create. Ceres leaves Capricorn behind to fly at 20,000 feet and see the overview of the garden you are starting to plant in your life. It is a great day to see how you got to where you are now, and to see the future. Play with Google maps or Microsoft Surface globe to see the world in a new way and then apply those visions to see your patterns with a new eye. Time for old patterns to leave you and separate from your existence. WE often carry our dreams past when they have been completed, without realizing that it is time to put them down and envision new dreams. As Mercury retraces his steps, make the new list of your dreams. No worries about how. And don’t listen to that nasty voice in your ear that says “YOU? Doing THAT? Please!” Tell it to hush up and that the dream is in your heart so it must be in your chart. No negative self talk today!
Tuesday January 4, 2011 The New Moon eclipse takes place today at 13:38 Capricorn starting a new 2 ½ year cycle. North Node, Pluto, Athena and Mars are in Capricorn and surrounding the lunation. Technically, the New Moon eclipse is besieged ~ surrounded by malefic planets ~ so we can expect troubling news or ideas to come from it. However, it also is an eclipse taking place moments before Jupiter and Uranus perfect THEIR conjunction for the third and final time at 27:02 Pisces four hours after the New Moon and trine to Venus at 26:51 Scorpio, conjunct the 27 Scorpio ascendant in the chart cast for Washington, DC. The imagery encourages us to see the patterns ~ without being mean to ourselves or others ~ for what they are. Venus finishes her square to Neptune in the night so dreams are particularly poignant and transformation. You find tempers are short with this much cosmic activity and be in the mood for a bit of discord as Mars squares Eris at 21 of the cardinal signs. Fights do clear the air. Be prepared to launch your next venture today. Give your Mars a dream it can work on for 2011, and don’t listen to folks saying you can’t or shouldn’t. Why not? What is your dream? A New Approach for 2011: I decided going forward, I am going to post a rolling two week column. That way the CURRENT week overview will change and be up to date with the current week’s daily aspects and the next week’s daily aspects will be included behind them. A two week rolling addresses a number of issues and still allows me the freedom to do the overview up front. It solves the problem of the overseas readers getting their day aspects late. It also allows you to plan a bit further in the future as you‘ll have the day aspects for two weeks instead of one week.
