Weekly Weather April 16, 2007

Well, we finally made it ~ Saturn goes direct this week. It officially is mid-April! YEAH!!! Once Saturn shifts direction, it will be full speed ahead into Virgo where we will get to practice, practice, practice and perfect our Saturn. But, first, we have to experience the Station of Saturn! Trumpets and drum rolls please!

Stations cause energy to build up. It builds and builds and builds. Stations culminate the changes and say, “Ok, ready or not, here we go!” We are back at the degree of last August, 18 Leo, when Saturn entered his shadow. Events and people from the last week or so of August and the beginning of September will reappear in your life for resolution,

review or your consideration. Back then, the first of the trees in our forests began to fall as Saturn opposed Neptune. While we don‘t have the final-final version of that three part Saturn/Neptune oppostion until the end of June, you‘ve made or noticed or experienced changes in the fixed parts of your life as Saturn has worked his considerable magic in that part of your chart and world.

Saturn is stationing in a sign he is not overly fond of. Saturn, never one for showy, tat-da kind of glamour is in Leo, a gawdy, feather boa, trumpet blaring kind of sign when it makes an entrance on to the stage. Saturn, not an out in front, salesy, showman type of guy, has to take center stage and deliver a speech to the minions, masses and his critics. So slap a bit of makeup on his face, run him through his lines one more time and give him a push out in front of the waiting crowd towards the microphone.

Now, Saturn is going to be NERVOUS. He’s stopping in Leo, he doesn’t want to do it and well, the moment is now. Time to make the statement and move on to the next chapter. I know, we don’t think of Saturn as a nervous kind of planet. Well, nerves can show as FEAR. Or Anxiety. Or Crankiness. Or Vexation. Or turn in and be depression or despair. Or having to make a decision and show up and be the person you were meant to be. Or taking responsibility. Or being humbled. Or owning up to your part and role in a matter. Or moving onto the next chapter in your life. It is time.

So, Advice for the Week. Gentle. Gentle. Gentle. Be Gentle with yourself and others. Your Saturn (and everyone else’s Saturns) is a complete, nervous wreck and has enough anxiety to go around and then some. Breath. Do the right thing. Do your Saturn. At the end of the week, I want you to be proud of what your Saturn did, the choices you made and the results you created. Might not be perfect (that is Virgo‘s job) but you got your Saturn out there. You got out there. Saturn got out there. You did it. Saturn did it. You and Saturn have evolved. We can work on your technique, style and delivery over the next few years when Saturn rolls through Virgo, but you’ve experienced what Saturn in Leo came to teach you. Be proud of your Saturn. Be proud of yourself. Embrace it. Embrace Saturn (quickly as he’s not into hugs). And be proud of yourself. Be proud of your Saturn. You done good.

Monday, Saturn and Pluto both make declination aspects to the asteroid Orpheus as we move toward our new moon tomorrow. I found that fascinating and did a bit of research on Orpheus as the aspects are profound as we move towards Saturn’s station. To quote from the internet: Several etymologies for the name Orpheus have been proposed. "to be deprived", "to put asunder, separate", “darkess", "fatherless, orphan", "to lament, sing wildly, cast a spell", The word "orphic" is defined as mystic, fascinating and entrancing, and, probably, because of the oracle of Orpheus, "orphic" can also signify "oracular".

Again from the internet: “Orpheus was considered one of the chief poets and musicians of antiquity, and the inventor or perfector of the lyre. By dint of his music and singing, he could charm the wild beasts, coax the trees and rocks into dance, even arrest the course of rivers. As one of the pioneers of civilization, he is said to have taught mankind the arts of medicine, writing and agriculture. Closely connected with religious life, Orpheus was an auger and seer; practiced magical arts, especially astrology; founded many important cults, instituted mystic rites both public and private; and prescribed initiatory and purificatory rituals.

“The most famous story in which Orpheus figures is that of his wife Eurydice who strode on a serpent and was bitten, which brought her to her death. Distraught, Orpheus played such sad songs and sang so mournfully that all the nymphs and gods wept and gave him advice. Orpheus went down to the lower world and by his music softened the hearts of Hades and Persephone who agreed to allow Eurydice to return with him to earth.

“But the condition was attached that Orpheus should walk in front of her and not look back until he had reached the upper world. In his anxiety he broke his promise, and Eurydice vanished again from his sight. The descent to the Underworld of Orpheus is paralleled in other versions of a worldwide theme: The mytheme of not looking back is reflected in the story of Lot’s wife when escaping from Sodom, or the other myths like Inanna, Ix Chel, or Izanagi.”

Tuesday, we have a New Moon at the last degrees of Aries in trine to Pluto and ruled by Mars in Pisces ~ a steamy, hot sauna of a moon! Please read the moon column on the site for information. The Sabian image is A Large Disappointed Audience ~ hmmm. I love those Sabian images. A few hours of void moon adds to the mix. There are aspect of brilliance and gifts from the moon in the form of understanding and wisdom. When we can actually see how we act out of our childhood wounds, we come to understand how our CURRENT choices, influenced by those old wounds, create our CURRENT life situations. Don’t like the situations? Change. Now, we actually understand what that word CHANGE means. Pretty cool eh?

Wednesday, Vesta stations retrograde at 15 Sadge. She‘s our home and hearth ruler. Our choices about what we let ourselves have are based in our beliefs about what we deserve. Now that we’ve had our illumination, we can decide to let ourselves have more. So move toward it. Test it out with an “I didn’t know I could do that” kind of childlike wonder.

Thursday, Saturn stops and moves direct. Well actually, he’s been dead still in the sky all week, grinding his considerable weight in on your soul and your fixed parts, making them squirm, squiggle and change. Now Saturn starts to move forward again. Mercury is busy, making plans, seeing the possibilities. Once you have that “ah ha” moment, you can never go back. Don’t look BACK!! Trust the process. Orpheus got what he wanted and lost it because he looked back! Consciousness refuses to become un-conscious again. Sun is working with Pluto to transform your vision of what is possible and asking how it can make the possible a reality in your life. Make sure to notice what comes into or leaves your life. It is very important as it represents the culmination of all the work we’ve been doing on over the past few months. Don’t look back!! Uranus is joined to the North Node of Destiny. I always call these the Scarlett O’Hara moments. Remember when she makes those dramatic, music swelling pronouncements in Gone with the Wind? “I’ll think about it tomorrow.” “I’ll never be poor again.” Or any of those other dramatic movie moments “You can’t take the truth”. “I am mad as hell and I am not going to take it any more.” Time for your dramatic statement. Don’t look back! It doesn’t actually have to be a dramatic statement! It might be a very quiet voice and a slight eyebrow raise. However, something shifts. Don&rsqu
o;t look back! It is the shi
ft to help you acknowledge your soul’s path ~ wrapped up in a dramatic statement or quiet “ah-ha” over a cup of tea. Don’t look back!

Friday, while you might have had your moment yesterday, today the world is pulling on your entire being and fraying your last nerve. If you are energized, go for it. If you are exhausted, go for it. Go for it. Don’t look back! You are almost through the energy. Remember the energy kind of hums like a string being plucked ~ the vibration is there after the finger plucks the string. That is what makes the music. Sun enters Taurus, to light up the fixed houses with rays of Sunshine. All this darkness and gloom and work was for …..? Well, once Sun zips through Taurus, you will understand it a bit better. Mars has an aspect of brilliance to Pluto. Do you see it? Do you understand more? It is all about the process. It is about letting go of the fear that holds you back as you accept or reject the consequences of your actions (or lack of actions). What goes around, comes around. Don’t look back!

Saturn’s Day, Mercury has a bunch of aspects: Saturn, Uranus, the two nodes of compulsion and destiny as well as Jupiter. Expect a bunch of ah-ha moments as you relive and review the past few days, mentally, over the weekend. We lost our cosmic connection to cycles when we became less agriculturally based. Back when we lived on and off of the land and needed to plant things to eat and survive, we understood through cycle after cycle after cycle, that you harvest what you plant. You reap what you sow. If you want a different crop, you plant a different seed. Today, the stuff magically appears before us ~ we may not realize that the seeds for things are sown early and long before we see the finished product on our grocery shelf. Your life is like that too. Your thoughts are your seeds. Plant good seeds in your life today with the strong Mercury aspects. Recognize that the SECOND you plant a different crop of thoughts, you’ve already begun to change your future harvest. I loved when I learned about the cycles so prominent in astrology. I love when I teach people about their cycles. If we understand that what we plant and nourish is what grows in our life, we become more conscious and take better care of the stuff we let root, plant or grow in our garden.

Sunday has a cranky energy of too much to do, too little time, oh how will I fit it all in. Ah but there is always time! Pick the most important thing you want to grow in your garden over the next whatever time period. Do about 15 minutes of work on it today. Write it in your calender to do 15 minutes of work on it tomorrow too. Then, take yourself out into the glorious world we live in. Step by step. It is about the process, the means, the evolution ~ forward you go ~ one step at a time. Don’t look back!

Mundane: Been a busy world and news week. Don Imus (July 23, 1940) and the profound reaction to his “nappy-headed hos” comment about the lovely, young women basketball team on April 4 has filled the airwaves and newspapers. Imus was fired by both MSNBC and CBS for the exact type of comments he has been making on the airwaves since 1966. That made me do a bit of research. Don’t you love astrology ~ why NOW? And Why for THIS particular remark out of ALL the racist and sexist remarks he‘s made over the MANY, MANY years he‘s been on the air waves as a ‘shock jock’? Imus’ secondary progressed Mars and Neptune are at 25 Virgo joined by Solar Arc Chiron at 27 Virgo on the USA Virgo Neptune. All the points are setting off his Neptune/ Ceres midpoint of 25 Virgo and receiving considerable energy. His Directed Mercury is on the USA Midheaven of 2 Libra. Well the astrology is there!

In addition, another thing caught my attention. A few weeks back, during the Walter Reed scandal, Imus went absolutely CRAZY about the generals and the administration’s neglect of the wounded soldiers. Of course, the eclipses were setting off his chart. Imus does an enormous amount of fundraising for wounded vets among his other charities. Imus IS a vet ~ with a loud and clear voice and a wide-ranging audience, fairly conservative and an older white guy. GE, a major defense contractor, owns MSNBC. First Dan Rather with those papers about George going AWOL, and now Imus. Silenced. These folks are good. They even got a leftie group, Media Matters, to coordinate the hit. Nothing like a bunch of lefties taking out a major voice criticizing the administration‘s behavior.

As for why THAT particular comment of his took off the way it did ~ well Venus in her ruler of Taurus was inconjunct to Pluto in Sagittarius and feeding into the grand trine in fire. With any grand trine in fire, we have to watch out for the whoosh of fire taking off and are careful or conscious of out of control acceleration. Venus, young women in her lovely ruler of Taurus, inconjunct (adjustment needed) to Pluto Sagittarius ~ obsessive, college, race and sports, feeding into the grand trine in fire. Well, you watched it! Venus was going to win in that configuration ~ Taurus Venus appeared robust, beautiful, gracious, stunning, sympathetic and made her parents as well as the rest of the country proud of those young ladies. We all wanted to defend and protect them!

On a more somber note, the current Governor of New Jersey was severely hurt, with many broken bones, in a car accident while driving to the meeting of Imus and the Rutgers basketball team. Saturn is back at the degree of last August when the former Governor of New Jersey announced he was gay, had an extra-marital affair, was being blackmailed and stepped out of his job and marriage. In both cases, the replacement governor is the same fellow, stepping up as Uranus (gay and broken bones) and Saturn (leadership) dance in the sky on the same points. Gotta love astrology! Moreover, right before both situations happened, each of the governors were accused of patronage and excessive gifts to their respective lovers.

Of course, with all this activity we need to look a smidge deeper to notice what the Imus distraction obscures from being covered by the press. Whenever there is one of these corporate media frenzies, I check what political situation is being ignored (on purpose?). It appears there are “missing emails” in the US Attorney firings. Oops! Karl happened to hit his delete key. Congress wants his emails? Mr. Rove and his merry band of at least 50 other folks using GOP provided computer equipment and email servers managed to lose their emails! The point of using GOP provided computer equipment was to avoid complying with the Hatch law to preserve presidential papers and, of course, emails, in their official government computers. However, they WERE at their government desks, in their role as a government employee and sending those emails during their day-to-day work or activities. Looks like “missing emails” will be our Pluto in Sagittarius version of the 18 minutes of erased tape from the Nixon Watergate era (Virgo), Fawn and Ollie shredding documents in the basement during the Iran-Contra era (Libra) and, to be non-partisan, sperm on a blue dress in Clinton‘s era (Scorpio). I thought Senator Leahey was going to pop a blood vessel when he found out the White House deleted the emails! It was a classic dog ate their email account moment. Should Patrick Fitzgerald re-open his Plame leak investigation now that we know the boys have secondary email accounts?

Nothing to fear, IF the GOP deletes emails the way they handle the war and Katrina, the missing emails will be found! Once on the internet, always on the internet! We computer folks love to back things up. We store digital copies all over the place for the fun and jollies of it, in our very special secret hidey places. Congress only needs an excellent forensics computer searcher. OR, perhaps we can access the missing emails using the NSA data mining stuff collected by yet another part of our government. I would LOVE t

hat! And, I bet that once we get INTO searching around in Karl’s and his merry boys email accounts, we will find the OTHER part of the Orpheus myth symbolized by the New Moon’s Saturn and Pluto simultaneous declination aspects to the asteroid Orpheus. As this is a family friendly column, you will have to use Google to find out the other part of the myth of Orpheus. They do seem to be fatherless orphans though!

Last, but certainly not least, a reader wrote in to point out that OJ’s trial was a Pluto in Scorpio moving into Pluto in Sagittarius blend while the exiting US Attorney’s scandal is a Pluto in Sagittarius moving into Pluto in Capricorn blend. And while we are at it, let’s ask our Senators and Congress folks to look at whom they DID NOT fire ~ the 85 US attorneys are apparently Bush loyalists who did what they were told to do. That is probably an even juicier rock to look under.
