The Lion Queen: New Moon in Leo This Weekend

Dear friends,

My monthly New Moon Manifestation Circle Webinar is TONIGHT, Friday, August 2nd at 7:30 PM Eastern . . . and I’d really love to see you there!

The Leo New Moon itself is coming up just a few days later — on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at 7:12 AM EDT — and it has a number of interesting features: see image below. When the chart is cast for Washington, DC, we find the Goddess of Love on the Ascendant, precisely conjunct the Fixed Star Regulus, the heart of the lion and the bearer of the energy of rulership. Venus also continues in orb of her Fire trine to Eris, Goddess of Discord, giving a boost of passion and enthusiasm to the Defiant Feminine. “I am cat lady, hear me roar!”

Mercury is stationing to go retrograde till August 27th, asking us all to spend the month ahead in a detailed reassessment of our words and our work. Pay attention to the flaws in the code, the strain on the seams. We can’t be in expansion mode always. A stitch in time saves nine, and a thoughtful self-assessment is the simplest (plus least embarrassing!) way of keeping ourselves on course. Your passion is wonderful, but it’s not the only thing you need.

When Mercury is retrograde on a New Moon, we often hear from folks from past. If somebody reappears in your life, engage. And if YOU think of someone that you haven’t thought of in a while, consider reaching out!

Saturn is retrograde too, of course, and he’s approaching a disruptive square to Jupiter in the middle of the month. These two planets last met on December 20, 2020. Their upcoming aspect is like a couple’s first fight: clarification of each person’s boundaries and a test of their commitment to each other. After a conflict like this, we are more conscious, wiser, more committed. But for now the tension is still building.

In spite of these challenges, it’s a powerful and hopeful New Moon: a GREAT time to clarify your intentions and desires so that you can manifest them. Neptune has been dancing on a World Point of Fame all summer long, giving resonance and longevity to all of our visionary creative projects and yearnings.

There’s also an irregular Earth-Air Grand Trine between retrograde Pluto at 0 Aquarius (approaching the late degrees Capricorn) and Uranus and Juno in the late degrees of Virgo and Taurus. Plant those seeds, send those emails.

To learn more about this New Moon’s energy, how it lands in your chart, and how to make the most of the new 30-day and 2.5-year cycles it initiates, I invite you to join me Friday night. [Edited to add: Here’s the link to purchase the recordings and slides!]

Big hugs,

Anne

P.S. I frequently recommend that students of astrology learn horary at The School of Traditional Astrology, founded by Deb Houlding, and I’m pleased to say that the excellent astrologer Wade Caves is offering an IN-PERSON horary astrology course through STA this August in Brooklyn, New York. If you mention that I sent you, he’ll give you a discount!

Here’s the registration link: https://sta.co/horary/H58_AUG24.php

(If you can’t make this special in-person class, Deb’s online offerings are fantastic too.)

The first time I met Wade was when my student Annabel Gat and I were on a road trip to an astrology conference; she had gone to San Francisco a week early to take the course at Wade’s house in California. She emerged from the class with this huge binder of astrology material, and I (as the owner of 14 bookcases in my New York City one-bedroom, and a growing number of bookcases in Florida) was instantly intrigued. I subsequently took the STA horary series online and I highly recommend it! Go get your own binder of knowledge. xoxo
