New Moon July 25, 2006

2 Leo 07
The New Moon at 2 Leo 07 is our SECOND new moon in Leo since Saturn entered Leo in July 2005. Fascinating, in a sort of cosmic Groundhog Day movie, where the universe repeats the story over so we get to watch it endlessly, knowing what is going to happen and able to intervene, the positions and degrees of Saturn and the New Moon are reversed. Swapped. By 12 and 21 minutes respectively! Gotta love the cosmic symmetry! Did they think we’d miss it or not notice?
The energy of the New Moon LAST year found the Sun and the Moon at 12 Leo 48 while Saturn was at 2 Leo 28. Our New Moon this week finds the Sun and Moon at 2 Leo 7 with Saturn is at 13 Leo 0. While the last year has been pivotal in SO many of our lives, it is as if the universe is asking “Do you want a Do Over? We, the universe, with YOUR permission, of course, will act as if the ENTIRE last year didn‘t happen. We’ll start fresh. You DO get to take ALL the knowledge you’ve gained over the last year and put it to darn good use during the rest of Saturn‘s transit through Leo. We can do that you know. We are the Universe and QUITE able to make magic happen!! Would you like us to do that?”
It seems as if the Cosmos KNEW we were so exhausted by Saturn’s journey through Cancer and the struggles with our family story that we weren’t quite able to leap enthusiastically into the fun and frolicking energy of Leo Saturn‘s offer to build more love, creativity and fun into our lives. Frankly, we weren’t sure we even wanted more! Besides, we had some big old wounds, serious “letting go” and major “new learnings” around the entire topic of Leo before we could ENJOY Saturn in Leo‘s focus on love, creating and giving. Those fixed signs are so fixed! The fixed signs are notorious for holding on to “old stuff” well past the expiration date.
So what would you say to the Universe if you knew last August what you know now? What would you ask for? What would you let go of? What would you do differently? What would you not worry about? Where would you spend your time? What would you keep the exact same way perfect way? I know my answer would be “YES!!! I’ll take the Do over!”
The new moon takes place in a chart with a transformative fixed T-square between Jupiter, Saturn and Chiron. The T-square is linked by expansive Jupiter in Scorpio to a powerful water grand trine between Venus, Jupiter and Uranus. Venus is joined to an out of bounds Leo moon by declination. So it is kind of like the cosmic basket ball went out of bounds so you get a do over! If you want a do over of course. Or you get a fresh start, leaving absolutely everything in place, just as it is. A do over or fresh start that holds more love. A do over or fresh start that links your lunar and solar reasons for being incarnated on earth at this time for your purpose into the creative emotional energy of Venus in Cancer flowing with Jupiter in Scorpio and combining with Uranus in Pisces. A fresh start or do over that consolidates all your well learned lessons into your being and essense. A fresh start or a do over! Your choice.
The energy of the transformative T-Square will plow through the watery, emotional new moon water trine like a massive ocean liner, causing a huge wake of watery waves, ripples and flows. However, AFTER the ship passes, the moving water will relax, release, reform, calm and swirl back into the endless, timeless movement of the sea floating along on the North Node in Pisces.
So what to do about the massive ocean liner of a T-Square rolling through your life? Well, it depends ~ you have a few choices. And, you have time to take a sip of tea and decide what you want to do. If you are in your own boat and having an absolutely wonderful time, you might just wave to the folks on the passing ocean liner and keep sailing. If you are in distress or need assistance or want to get off your boat, you can send up a flare so the ocean liner will notice you, stop, pick you up, give you assistance or carry you to safety. If you’d like, you can throw a line up to the ocean liner and catch a tow ~ a free ride that carries you much faster and farther than you will sail by yourself in the same time ~ to where you want to go. The ocean liner is going your way!
To get to where you are going you have choices. All involve work, making decisions and moving toward what you like. You can sail your own boat, shoot a flare, get help or hitch a ride. Regardless, YOU have to take action ~ consistently, consistently, consistently, to create what ever you would like.
The New Moon finds Mercury retrograde in the last decant of Cancer, or the Pisces Decant. Mercury thus echoes and aspects the Karmic North Node of Pisces. Mercury is in charge of Virgo Mars, a sign that can accomplish things and create if it has a plan! Retrograde Mercury is forming a Finger of God with with Pluto in Sagittarius and Ceres/Neptune in Aquarius. Finger’s of God offer us an opportunity to choose. They represent forks in the road and choices in the path of our lives. You face a choice under the new moon. I encourage you to pick a path that you love, a path that fills your heart with joy, beauty, desire and nurtures your soul as Venus and the Moon join in the heavens and invite you to begin a new.
Turning to Lynda Hill’s Sabian Images for 3 Leo we find the picture of “A MATURE WOMAN, KEEPING UP WITH THE TIMES, HAVING HER HAIR BOBBED”
Commentary: ‘A Mature Woman’ here is ‘Keeping Up With the Times’ through having a modern hairstyle; she’s ‘Having Her Hair Bobbed’. She doesn’t want to be out of touch with fashion and considered old-fashioned. Getting her ‘Hair Bobbed’ helps her to present an image of being modern and in tune with what’s current in the world. As she’s said to be ‘A Mature Woman’, the hairstyle may be her way of making a statement that with the changes that are happening in her life she’s feeling somewhat different about herself. When the Symbols were brought through in 1925, it was indeed rather radical to cut your hair in a ‘Bob’ if you were a woman.
Oracle: Although we cannot really become different by changing our appearance, feeling good about the image we display does radiate both inwardly and outwardly. This might be just what is needed in the situation that brought you to the Oracle. However, as comforting and rejuvenating as an external change may be, remember that it is your inner self that is the essence of your persona, not the mask you wear. Altering your appearance for the sake of being trendy may be detrimental to your self-esteem or confidence; you may feel as though you are constantly following the crowd. ‘Keeping Up With the Times’ can sometimes become an obsession. Be sure that you are not making these cosmetic changes to replace something lacking inside. Having said that, asserting your right to present your own style and feeling confident about yourself can be invaluable for self-esteem and can lead to others appreciating you for your true qualities.
Keywords: Making an effort to keep up with trends. Asserting one’s independence from social constraints. Wanting to shrug off the years. Adopting a younger attitude. Following the herd. Going along with the things for the sake of being trendy. Plastic surgery. Changing appearances. Hairdressers and hairstyles. Gray hair. Hats and scarves. Meeting the challenges of age. Radiating sexuality. Bad hair days. Mid-life crisis. Being a trendsetter.
The Caution: Relying on external fashion to disguise inner emptiness. Cosmetic changes that are transitory. Making superficial but not meaningful alterations. Fashion slaves. The illusion of keeping up with the times. Giving up on one’s appearance. Battling society’s glorification of youth. M
