Antonin Scalia, Associate Justice Supreme Court
March 11, 1936 to February 13, 2016
Mere factual innocence is no reason not to carry out a death sentence properly reached. ~ Antonin Scalia
About Bush v. Gore which effectively ended recounts of ballots in Florida following the 2000 US Presidential Election, he said of the case, “I and my court owe no apology whatever for Bush v. Gore. We did the right thing. So there! … get over it. It’s so old by now.”
Antonin Scalia was seated on the Supreme Court of the United States of America on September 26, 1986, after his appointment by Ronald Reagan. During a solid Saturn Cycle of time ~ 29 ½ years, Justice Scalia, a staunch, conservative, Latin Mass attending Roman Catholic, offered strong opinions, argued vehemently and vociferously for what he believed. Personable and effusive, he always had a liberal clerk working on his staff to challenge his views and argue with. Gail, a friend of mine, worked with him during his teaching tenure at University of Virginia Law School. Though she didn’t agree with ANY of his conservative opinions, she thought he was delightful and charming as a person.
As expected, Justice Scalia’s chart describes him beautifully. Born on Mercury’s Day and Mercury’s hour, he has an exalted Mercury in Aquarius describing his brilliant mind. Mercury is joined with charming Venus in Aquarius. Venus rules his Libra Ascendant as well as trining it, so you met a charming, intelligent man in Scalia. Mercury and Venus are in the 4th house, traditionally assigned to Cancer ~ valuing home, family and smack on the USA July 4, 1776 chart’s Aquarius Moon and Pallas Athena ~ he defended the traditions he was raised in and served the country he was born in.
Mercury and Venus are one leg of a Finger of God, or Yod, with Pluto in Cancer in the 9th house of Legal matters as the Apex and Jupiter in his favorite sign Sagittarius as the other leg. Pluto in the 9th house is all or nothing ~ in the sign of Cancer it would be conservative ~ a “big daddy” of law! Pluto in Cancer answers to Moon in Scorpio in his first house ~ he was thin skinned as most Moon in Scorpio people are when he was criticized. In fact, Moon in Scorpio joins to Pallas Athena in Scorpio retrograde and both are inconjunct to Eris the Goddess of Discord so he rarely recused himself from cases even when it made sense to do so. He was quite offended when people questioned his ability to be unbiased. His Moon in Scorpio answers to feisty, fight loving Mars in Aries in the 6th house of daily routines. He needed and loved to fight every day! And with Moon in Scorpio ruling his Pluto in Cancer, he would fight to the very end, going down swinging, shouting, yowling and never, ever, ever giving up!
His chart is full of oppositions ~ planets fighting with each other ~ so he LOVED to be opposed ~ it fed his soul. He loved to fight ~ it fed his heart! With his Scorpio Moon opposite Taurus Uranus in the 7th house ~ he didn’t support any changes to traditions requested by groups other than HIS group of conservative white males. No right to an abortion (Ceres in Scorpio opposite Juno in Taurus), sexual partners of same sex (Chiron in Gemini squared by Saturn in Pisces), gay marriage (Moon in Scorpio opposite Uranus in Taurus), gender or racial exemptions (Neptune in Virgo opposite Saturn in Pisces). He said NO to any exceptions for any groups requesting support in changing cultural biases, preferring to uphold the words and intentions of the constitution founders ~ words that were written back in 1791. With Neptune in Virgo in the 11th house of groups opposite Saturn in Pisces in the 5th house ~ so much for your 5th house pursuit of happiness as long as I have mine! Neptune and Saturn are squared by Chiron in Gemini in the 8th house of harsh words that wound people as he defended his positions and argued for his beliefs.
Jupiter in Sagittarius squares his Sun in Pisces in the 5th house so Scalia never, ever doubted his own truth ~ in fact he probably felt rather sorry that you believed what you believed especially if it differed from his truth. Jupiter, the planet of abundance, rules his 5th house of children ~ he had nine children and numerous grandchildren. The Pisces Sun is placed in the 5th house so he liked a good time, accompanied by excellent food, wine and laughter ~ in addition to a loving a good fight just because fighting is fun! And Bacchus is opposite Pluto ~ check out THAT myth for another key to his personality!
His three Hammers of Thor helped pound in his points while his four Fingers of God led him to have a major impact on the judicial system and laws of these United States. Jupiter and Mars in their sign’s rulers and Mercury in his sign’s exaltation helped Scalia excel in living his chart to the maximum!
I was raised a Catholic. We were told that folks who weren’t Catholic weren’t going to Heaven because they weren’t baptized. My grandmother said “It’s a hard Church to live in but a GREAT Church to die in.” As a Latin Mass attending Roman Catholic, Scalia preferred the pre-Vatican version of the Church which “went liberal” with all the Vatican changes in the mid-1960s. There is a joke about a person dying and going to heaven. He was asked where he wanted to sit by St. Peter. St. Peter points out the various groups, Jews, Muslims, Atheists, Hindus and Presbyterians during the heaven orientation tour. When asked about the people sitting behind a brick wall, St. Peter says “Oh, that is where the Catholics sit ~ they think they are the only ones up here!”
Antonin Scalia has a stretched Pentagram in his chart formed by Mercury, Venus, Juno, Pluto, Ascendant, and Jupiter. The Pentagram, a five pointed star, is formed by Venus in her 8 year journey of conjunctions with Earth. The Pentagram is a Goddess symbol. Imagine Antonin Scalia’s surprise bright and early Saturday morning when he got to heaven and found out that God is actually a woman! Not God ~ Goddess!!! Gotta love that trickster Mercury energy in his chart! Even Scalia would have a good belly laugh once he got over his initial shock!
