Harvest Time: The Virgo New Moon

Dear friends,

There’s a New Moon in Virgo coming early next week, and a New Moon Manifestation Circle Webinar on Monday, September 2.

This New Moon takes place on Labor Day here in the United States, which is quite appropriate for Virgo — the sign of the worker and the harvest. On Monday, September 2nd at 9:55 PM Eastern US time, the Sun and Moon will meet up at 11 degrees, 4 minutes Virgo.

This New Moon also ushers in Eclipse season. It’s a moment of bittersweetness and awareness of the passage of time, with the Goddess of Love newly entered into tenderhearted Libra — one of her favorite signs — yet approaching a conjunction to the South Node of release. This New Moon is all about releases!

In the chart cast for Washington, DC (which rules the whole of the US, since the nation’s capital is there) we find Taurus on the Ascendant, which makes Venus the ruler of the whole chart, as she rules Taurus. It’s a gentle reminder that everything on this planet comes and goes, that you can’t create space in your life for fresh goodness (relationships, creative projects, possessions) if you don’t let go of what you no longer need. Say goodbye with grace.

The Washington, DC chart also features a Midheaven of 22.5 degrees Capricorn — which is the degree where, Jupiter, Pluto, and Saturn met up in early 2020. This suggests that Covid will be back in the news. There’s a new booster due to be released soon, so keep on top of that!

Pluto, meanwhile, will have just retrograded back into Capricorn, which he left for Aquarius in January of this year. He’ll spend the next three months there — his last, last time for 224 years — finishing up unfinished business from our Pluto-in-Cap journey, which began way back in January of 2008, when we were all much younger and more innocent!

Take stock of where you are and your goals for the future while appreciating how far you’ve come. What do you want to put down, before Pluto goes into Aquarius, for good and for true, for the next 19 years? It’s Eclipse season, remember? (And in fact, it is our LAST Eclipse season, before the Nodes change signs in January.)

Mars, the God of Action, is under a bit of stress in this New Moon chart. He’s approaching a square to Neptune (who is on a World Point) and he finds himself at the apex of a Finger of God with Pluto in Cap and Pallas Athena in Scorpio as the two legs. There’s a kind of sibling rivalry that might be driving some of your choices. Clear your head and stick to your knitting. You’re not her to one-up them or one-down them: you’re here to carve your own path, and ASSERT YOUR VISION, independently. Claim it!

This is amplified by the fact that Mercury in Leo is getting ready to square both Uranus and Pallas. This is the “I am” energy. Your strategy is different from what others may be urging you to do. It really is your choice.

It’s a juicy, physical, highly mutable New Moon, and a great time for establishing new daily routines that support our health and well being. Also, a nice time for adopting a pet, if you’ve been considering that!

To learn more about the Virgo New Moon and how it lands in your chart and life, I invite you to sign up for my webinar on Monday night!

Big hugs,

Anne
