Full moon Sunday February 12, 2006
11:44 pm EST, Washington, D.C.
8:44 pm PST
24:20 Leo/Aquarius.
Cast for Washington, D.C., our Leo Full Moon opposite Aquarius Sun finds Moon the highest planet, angular while Sun, ruler of the Midheaven, is cowering down at the bottom of the chart. Most of our fixed cross traffic jam of Neptune, Jupiter, Mars and Saturn sits firmly in the cardinal houses, straddling the Ascendant/Descendant, MC/IC axes. All that planetary energy will stimulate volatility, movement, and oodles of action. Or at least the desire for oodles of action! And, best of all Mars is finally breaking free from his difficult inconjunct aspect to Pluto, after ENDLESS MONTHS of being trapped, blocked, foggy, oppressed and depressed in that fixed cross, his endless, difficult, held back retrograde AND feeling he was so very stuck in Taurus’ pokey energy. Action is a distinct possibility! However, CAUTION is urged!!
Mars is liable to go a bit over the top, just because he wants to and he can! Mars is in a mean, nasty mood, spoiling for a fight or some other way to release all that pent up, irritated, aggressive and crazed energy rolling around inside of him. Mars is liable to say or do something that can permanently damage important and valued relationships when he’s this state. I suggest diverting Mars. Try lots of sex, a strenuous workout or a similar fevered activity! Take a kick boxing class. Knock down a wall for a renovation. Hit your pillow or a drum with your hands. Break a plate or three to create tiles for a future mosaic art project. Chop wood. Dig a ditch. Shoot your gun at a firing range. Please try to release Mars constructively, rather than directing your volatility, hostility or anger at some poor, hapless person who happens to find themselves in your path.
Moreover, if it feels like someone is hunting for you on this full moon; it probably isn’t for any thing you did! You merely happened to be in the path of their flying bullets, frustration or snotty words. You were a convenient target for their misdirected aggressive drive and hostilities. Of course, that doesn’t matter when they are coming after you! I suggest you hang up, stop the conversation, walk or run away, or leave. Protect yourself from any out of control Mars energy in your vicinity!
The problem with Mars is we THINK we can control Mars and approach him in an intellectual manner. Nope. Not at all! Mars is primal, instinctual and way, way out of control. He’s approaching Algol, the fixed star of beheadings. He has oodles of frustrated, pent up energy just aching to blast away at something, Mars wants to either kill you, have mindless, out of control sex with you or get you to do what he wants so you’d just better do it RIGHT NOW! If you frustrate Mars, in ANY manner, he’s going to let you have it! Right now, conversations with Mars are as productive as negotiating in a reasonable manner with a terrorist psychopath serial killer. For this, you need a sniper with excellent aim!! Or to wait until he falls asleep. Or not answer the phone. If caught in a room with him, you just have to do what Mars wants and survive until Monday. And, if you WANT to be a psychopath serial killer over the weekend, please know you will be sloppy, get caught and sent to jail for the rest of your life! Or killed by lethal injection. You are going to leave a trail with oodles of clues. The police are going to get you!!
The ascendant for the Washington Full Moon chart is in the Via Combusta, the road or pathway of fire. The Sun and Moon are in aspect to the Part of Death, suggesting permanent endings if we are not cautious. The Ascendant is opposite the Part of Fortune suggesting your fortune can shift suddenly and without warning. There are quite a few mutual receptions, especially using Ptolemy’s essential dignities table. Mutual Receptions allow the planets to swap places energetically ~ so they can trade places. Think of the mutual receptions as giving the full moon a bunch of wild cards to use! Careful use of wild cards can help you to win the game! Or, your opponents can use those exact same wild cards to completely beat you into submission. It all depends on the deal.
Quite a few planets are sitting on Fixed stars in the full moon chart, adding to the energy, complexity and permanent changes promised by our moon. Pluto is on Aculeus, suggests blindness, failure to see or being caught, impaled by a fish hook. Neptune is on Sualocin, the dolphin star, implying playfulness is the route to freedom and avoiding being trapped. Vertex and Juno are chatting with Bellatrix promising success through facing one‘s shadow as personal weaknesses are exposed for the world, or perhaps just you, to see. Bellatrix demands personal growth as the only way to true success. Moon is parralel to Aldebaran suggesting emotional and personal integrity and purity are profoundly critical at this time. Aldebaran promises a rapid fall from grace and having to run through a tunnel of fire to prove your innocence and survive if you are found wanting or lacking in honor. Venus and Jupiter are parallel to Zuben Elgenubi indicating malevolence, violence, disease, lying and poison. The fixed stars speak to the choices we will face when Mars breaks free or acts up in revolution. Yep, it is going to be a very interesting full moon.
Last, but certainly NOT least, the Sun and Moon are triggering the Mars in Taurus station retrograde last fall. Therefore, under this full moon, you will FINALLY find out what the story of fall 2005 was for. The issues of Fall 1982 to Spring 83 and May 2000 will be up and dancing in front of your nose asking how you want to resolve, plan or work with them in the very near future. Last October first, as Mars stationed at 24 Taurus, you figured out something very important. Now, or perhaps over the next two weeks, you will find out WHAT that knowledge was for. Why did it come into your life? What are you supposed to do with it? The time for action is now.
As usual, Lynda Hill’s interpretations of the Sabian Symbols for the Moon and Sun add layers to our understanding. The symbol for the Moon at 25 Aquarius is: A BUTTERFLY WITH THE RIGHT WING MORE PERFECTLY FORMED
Commentary: ‘A Butterfly With the Right Wing More Perfectly Formed’ shows a situation of imbalance, lopsidedness and sometimes physical distortions. The ‘Butterfly’ may have difficulty flying and therefore its very life is compromised because of this “handicap”. However, perhaps this ‘Right Wing More Perfectly Formed’ is only a problem in how things look and not how they perform. It could be that the ‘Butterfly’ has learnt how to cope with this imbalance and can still live its life unhindered by the defect.
Oracle: In your situation, you may find that you are applying your rational logical mind out of balance to your intuition and creative wisdom. It is often harder to understand your intuitive messages, but reliance on logic can limit your possibilities. On the other hand, it could be that life is swamped with a lack of rational thought and responses, relying more heavily on the emotional, creative and spiritual. This would have to be accessed by the individual that has this situation or problem in their life. This Symbol can show problems or issues to do with language or the ability to verbally express feelings. It can also show someone or a situation where the emotional aspects get the upper hand before the rational mind really understands or “gets it”. With this Symbol around, it may be necessary to learn to trust your intuitive feelings, but to be careful not to overreact emotionally and take the extra effort to bring your thoughts and rational awareness up to speed. It can show that emotional, mental or physical handicaps that prevent one from doing what one truly wants, or imbalances or mutations on the spiritual level. The main issue here is about balance. Balance can still be achieved, but only if there is a genuine acceptance of the problems inherent.
Keywords: Rising above life’s distortions. A need to bring some type of balance to situations. Injuries or problems with hands or arms. One side being more ‘Perfect’ than the other. The ‘Right’ being better than the left. Mutations. Handicaps. Challenges.
The Caution: Imbalances and physical distortions. Asymmetry. An imbalance of functions leading to involuntary flapping around. Distortions of reactions or of the truth. Lopsidedness.

You cannot fly with wings made of butter. Netherlands Antillean Proverb
A bird never flew on one wing. Proverb
Is he alone who has courage on his right hand and faith on his left hand? Charles A. Lindbergh
Whatever the right hand findeth to do, the left hand carries a watch on its wrist to show how long it takes to do it. Ralph W. Sockman
I’d give my right arm to be ambidextrous. Yogi Berra SABIAN
The Sun at 25 Leo summons the symbol of: A LARGE CAMEL CROSSING A VAST AND FORBIDDING DESERT
Commentary: ‘A Large Camel Crossing a Vast and Forbidding Desert’ is an image of endurance, strength and determination. The ‘Camel’ has the ability to overcome challenges and obstacles to complete a ‘Vast and Forbidding’ journey. The ‘Large Camel’ doesn’t realize how amazing and noteworthy this feat of endurance is; he’s merely getting on with what he must do. It’s part of his nature. Human beings, on the other hand, find going so far on so little reserves in such forbidding conditions very challenging. Further, the ‘Camel’ may also have a rider or a heavy load to carry. It can feel like something almost impossible or too much to ask of somebody.
Oracle: Your situation may already feel like an arduous journey, but there is still probably further to go. Be confident that you have the reserves to survive and the endurance to succeed. It may be that the source of this energy or confidence is stored in someone else. It can be a great sacrifice or burden, and it is often a family member or very close friend that will fulfill this duty. Expecting someone to be there to provide sustenance and revitalization can be a lot to ask of them. The important thing to remember is that this is a long and difficult journey, but whoever is doing it is purpose built for it and capable of achieving it. Issues to do with self-sufficiency may arise. Mental and emotional self-control are very necessary. Another perspective could show someone who’s totally comfortable doing the “hard yards”. It may look daunting and impossible to others, but to them it is familiar and perhaps even comforting. As the ‘Camel’ is prepared for long stretches in the ‘Desert’, so too are you for the task before you. Make sure you have what you need with you.
Keywords: Completing a journey. Protecting oneself from spiritual “sunstroke”. Tests of karma. Taking on daunting tasks. Taking one step at a time. Feeling totally at home. Provisions that nurture and satisfy. Camels, caravans, oasis, mirages, water, provisions, deserts. Stamina and fortitude. Crossing to the other side. Endurance. Thirst. Survival against the odds. Transport. Bad backs. Back packs.
The Caution: Not preparing properly and running out of reserves. Feeling weighed down and in danger of not making it through. Not seeing the big picture. Lack of sustenance. Big plans with no back up. Taking on huge tasks when one shouldn’t. Being daunted by huge projects. Mirages that confuse objectives.

Much has been written about the beauty, the stillness, the terror of the desert but little about its flies. Belle Livingstone
So on our glorious full moon, take the wisdom of the cosmos under advisement, stretch your uneven, imperfectly formed wings and start your own journey across the vast and forbidding desert. You are going to have SUCH an interesting trip! Just watch out for Mars, keep your sense of humor, bait the hook and fish carefully as you wrap yourself in a cloak of personal integrity while paying strict attention to honor, valor, purity and your own shadow issues. I know, I know. It‘s a lot to keep track of! But, hey, haven‘t you been moaning about the traffic jam for a while now? It is starting to break! Forward you go!
