Gemini Moon and Sagittarius Sun at 1:55

9:30 am EST

6:30 am PST

The full moon takes place in the early degrees of Gemini and Sagittarius. It occurs several hours after Uranus stationed to begin moving imperceptibly direct after his six month retrograde. Uranus is on a soul seeking journey through Pisces, the sign of dreams, undoing, dissolving and how-we-are-ALL-in-this-together-and-connected-even-if-we-THINK-we-are-not-and-must-wander-the-world-alone-aimlessly-and-sorrowfully. There IS a giant cosmic energetic web that links us with the planets, as well as with every other animate being and inanimate item on earth and above. The heavens and our world are alive and pulsing with numinous connections between all things seen and unseen.

We forget that numinous connection to all other beings in our daily rush of life and bustle hustle. Yet, connected we are! How can astrology, the I-ching, palmistry, synchronicity or tarot “work” if there isn’t some sort of connective energy that can be evaluated, assessed or inquired of? No, we can’t always “harness” it nor can we control it ~ difficult transits do happen ~ but we CAN look at the story involved to understand the deeper meaning of an event or series of events in our life. And, YES, IF we know something is about to happen, we can allow ourselves to plan, get ready or prepare for it.

Let’s say that you and I know that someone is going to tip over a table full of glasses in a crowded room in the next minute or so. The rest of the room has no clue the glasses are about to crash to the ground with a loud sound of breaking crystal. When the crash takes place, they will be shocked while you and I can take advantage of their shock. We can act because we know it is coming. That is the same premise that pickpockets use to steal your wallet. One thief causes a distraction that takes your attention off your body, being and space while the other thief removes your wallet from your back pant’s pocket or purse.

I often wonder why astrology, so accurate and correct at describing the energy around us, is so disparaged by the culture of the Western World. My Asian Indian friends, raised in a culture that respects astrology, calling it the science of light ~ are well aware of the accuracy and uncanny ability it has to pinpoint life events well in advance of their occurrence in time and space. When I first started to read people’s charts, I was consistently amazed at the accuracy of keywords, those very basic descriptions of cosmic energy and the positive response keywords elicited from the person before me. So why ISN’T astrology taught in grammar school like science, reading or math? Think about it. If you knew, before hand, the bigger purpose, the spiritual purpose, the point, peak and timing of the events coming in your life would that help you? If you could look and see what is coming, would you be more or less independent or dependent? What would you want to know about ahead of time? And WHY would you want to know? That is a bit of a trick question as you are reading this column. So, you, in some sense, WANT to know what is coming. So, then, ask yourself why is that other folks DON’T want to know? What is that about? Why not look? Why look?

In every natal chart, transit, progression, station, or lunation, the heavens are trying to communicate to us the numinous purpose of the moment in time. The planets talk and describe what we are to be. The planets say there is a time for every season and a purpose for every thing under the heavens. The planets lay it all out like a cosmic clock of moving time which we can glance at (or ignore). Personally, I am FOR looking, even if it might be difficult to look at. And, with my Pisces Moon, I am a huge wimp about going to scary or violent movies. But looking at astrology? Endlessly fascinating. The heavens are talking to us and telling us the purpose of the moment before us. How cool is that?

The purpose of the full moon today is for you to LOOK! Look clearly, cleanly and without fear. Be brave. Look! It is okay. It is your life. Look at your life. Mercury is square to Neptune saying the hopes and dreams that you have deep in your heart might or might not be realized. Based on what you are doing right now, this very second, do you see those dreams of yours ever coming true? If no ~ what do you need to do to move those dreams of yours along? If yes, if you keep doing the same thing going forward will you, eventually, maybe, possibly, kind of sorta slowly, get to what or where you want? Do you have any control at all about the situation before you? And, if you don’t have any control (and remember you won’t have control as the world and other people’s free will simply doesn‘t work that way), what DO you actually have control over? What can you work with or on or toward to get moving toward what you‘d like in your life?

Venus is joined to the asteroid Sisyphus and opposite the asteroid Panacea in the sky during the full moon. Venus is devoid of major aspects except for a trine to Neptune. As a “punishment” from the gods, Sisyphus was compelled to roll a huge rock up a steep hill, but before he reached the top of the hill, the rock always escaped him. The rock rolled back down the hill. So he had to do it again ~ he had to roll the rock back up the hill. Pointless or interminable activities are often described as Sisyphean. Albert Camus, in his 1942 essay The Myth of Sisyphus, sees Sisyphus as personifying the absurdity of human life, but concludes "one must imagine Sisyphus happy" as "The struggle itself towards the heights is enough to fill a man’s heart." Panacea is the goddess of cures. Panacea was said to have a poultice or potion with which she healed the ills of the world. While the task or situation before you might feel pointless and resistant or opposed to a solution or cure, what CAN be changed? There is SOME THING that can be changed, even if it is whistling while you push the rock up the hill and watch it roll down sucking on a sugar pill and wrapping a wet washcloth on your forehead. You must imagine your self happy as you look at the situation(s) before you. What can you do besides that? Is it a time to wait for salvation or a cure to the ills around you? Or is it a time to work towards your version of a salvation or cure?

Mars is still out of bounds, still retrograde, still in a sign he finds incredibly whiny, needy and annoying to be in. Mars does not want to stray far from home when he is in Cancer. But what kind of good does a warrior god do lurking about in the kitchen? Mars is not doing much but poking at the Moon and stirring up our changing, volatile emotions around security. A Moon /Mars aspect, by declination, makes for defensive living as well as a sense of aggravation at the situation(s) before you. The square of Saturn to the lights of the full moon lights up the layers of your life’s meaning, constructed of layers and layers of levels and roles, both satisfying and not so satisfying. The lights also square the karmic nodes which add an additional sense that time is paused, not moving, pivoting and pausing as the rock gets ready to roll back down the hill one more time.

That is what this moment in time is for, according to the heavens above. To look at the seemingly endless, repetitive, non-changing absurdity of your very own human life. To understand the point of it all is to be in it. To live in the moment. To love what is before you, as it is. To imagine yourself happy. To be the solution to your own ills as you push your own rock up that hill in an endless, repetitive, soon to be changing if you ever decide to change the absurdity of your very own human life.

This is one of those “Deeper Meaning” moments in time. Did you ever think or notice that Sisyphus wasn’t chained or locked into pushing the rock up the hill? He
was told he was supposed to
. And so he pushed that rock. That rock rolled back down. He pushed that rock up the hill again. The rock rolled back down. What is your rock which you are pushing up your hill? Do you want to stop pushing your rock? Well, stop. Stop. Stop already. Stop pushing your rock. Sit down and smoke a cigarette (and only one and only because it helps you think and you are SO TIRED of pushing your rock). Decide what you want to do instead of pushing your rock up that hill. Wait a bit. Look and see what happens. Yep. It IS that easy. Just stop pushing the rock. See if anyone notices. Maybe you can leave your rock and go do something else? Or maybe, now that you’ve had a rest and a smoke, you are going to be a bit more creative and content about pushing that rock of yours up your hill?

Lynda Hill’s interpretation of the Sabian Image for the full Moon at 2 Gemini is: A NERVOUS GENTLEMAN, DRESSED IN AN ELABORATE SANTA CLAUS COSTUME, IS FILLING CHRISTMAS STOCKINGS SECRETLY

Commentary: ‘A Nervous Gentleman, Dressed in an Elaborate Santa Claus Costume, is Filling Christmas Stockings Secretly’. ‘Stockings’ are hung by the chimney in the hopes of getting good things from ‘Santa Clause’, otherwise known as St. Nicholas. The story of ‘Santa Claus’ and the ‘Christmas Stocking’ tells us that, out of compassion, he tossed three coins down the chimney of the home of three poor sisters. Each coin fell neatly into ‘Stockings’ left drying by the hearth. We therefore leave our ‘Stocking’ out in hopes that a similar bit of good fortune will befall us. He appears to be ‘Nervous’ and acting ‘Secretly’; sneaking around. Perhaps this is because he wants to get his job done before the household wakes and he is discovered doing his rounds.

Oracle: Someone may be tiptoeing around, like ‘Santa Claus’ in an effort to give out gifts while no one is looking. Be gracious and let those carrying the gifts have the pleasure of your reaction. You may, however, draw this Symbol in a situation where you are suspicious of someone being up to something. This Symbol may be saying that your fears are possibly not only unfounded, but can actually be quite wrong. You need to trust that something good is happening, and trust those involved in this situation. This may be occurring in the reverse if you are trying to surprise someone with a gift. Perhaps the giver in this situation is you? If so, dispense what “gifts” you have in any way that you can. It is not necessarily the gift, but more the thought that counts. What would happen if the lights were suddenly turned on? Would things suddenly be known and revealed that were not apparent or visible before?

Keywords: Wishes fulfilled. The longing for superficial gratification. Gifts being dispensed. Receiving from unknown sources. Giving gifts out for no particular reason or thought of reward for one’s self. Rewards coming. Making surprise visits. Token gestures. Furtive gestures. Charity. Philanthropy. Masturbation.

The Caution: Hiding true gestures behind futile pretense. Concealing true intentions with a façade of goodness. Trying to get away with something. Stealing, shoplifting. Intrusion. Giving others what they want in a sly and secretive manner. Sneaking around in the dark. Bribes. Self-gratification. Eavesdropping and voyeurism.

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. The stockings were hung by the chimney, in the hope that St. Nicholas would soon be there. Clement C. Moore

Lynda Hill’s interpretation of the Sabian Image for the Sun at Sagittarius 2: THE OCEAN COVERED WITH WHITECAPS

Commentary: ‘The Ocean Covered With Whitecaps’ shows what happens when the wind whips up the surface of the ‘Ocean’, turning the water to froth. The wind can sometimes quickly bring up a storm, coming seemingly from out of nowhere. What appears on the surface is often very different from what’s happening just below it. Things are much calmer and quieter than you would imagine from looking at the whipped up ‘Whitecaps’.

Oracle: The day-to-day experiences of life can create a “quick wind” which can blow out of control if things get overheated or overstated. Because these experiences take up a lot of space in our current thoughts, they seem to be more important than they really are. In essence, they are really only passing by, just so much “froth and bubble” or “monkey chatter” and will be soon replaced by other considerations. The effect, however, can play havoc with your emotions and can create some storms of their own. At this time there seems to be a lot going on and you may feel that your emotions are on a real bumpy ride. You may find that surface emotions have been whipped up and this has led to a concern that is disproportionate to the depth of the issue. Things have a deeper sense of strength and permanence than they seem on the surface. Whether your situation contains difficult components, or whipped up and excited ones, the truth of the matter is that the foundations of your life are much more settled and the surface emotional distress is probably just misleading matters. Staying anchored to what is true, permanent and stable in your life can help you get through whatever has been churned up. If you just understand that the wind will die down, or at least change, then you can simply ride out this time secure in the strength of your deeper stability. Getting below the surface where things are calmer and more reliable could alter your perspective.

Keywords: Mobilization of energy and emotions. Safety in more secure emotions. Blustery days. Churning thoughts. Being flighty and changeable.

The Caution: Getting fussed and irritable over nothing, or at least very little. Nervousness. Whipping up emotions and reactions. Overdoing things. Not knowing how to rest. Responding too readily to external conditions. Gathering gloom.
