Full Moon Cancer and Capricorn Sun 24:05

January 14, 2006
The amount of energy in a chart is determined by the number of planets and sensitive points in an aspect relationship to each other. As watchers of the sky, we notice when many planets are activated and relating to each other rather than wandering alone on their path. Those times are “juicy” times and described by “juicy” charts. The full moon chart for January 14, 2006 is an exceptionally ripe, juicy and delicious chart. Or, as a philosopher might say, “may you always live in interesting times.” Such a moment in time, a “very interesting time“, is now. The only way I know to describe a chart like this is to pull out my Virgo Sun and have at it. My interpreting skills fall away as I join the Greek Chorus on the side of the World stage and go “Wow! Look at that will you?!?“ So, forward we go, into the full moon chart.
First, the full moon is in Cancer and Out of Bounds. Cancer moons are always emotional. Cancer Full moons are exceptionally emotional. Out of bounds planets act with a passion that has no bounds, no limits, and no restrictions as they have exceeded their normal path. So we have an out of bounds, exceptionally emotional lunation. Like Helen Keller when she was struggling with her teacher, out of complete frustration, RIGHT BEFORE Helen figured out “water” was W-A-T-E-R, we will see, hear and feel a enormous level of emotional frustration rolling around in our world.
Second, Moon will pass over the top of Saturn, from our perspective here on Mom Earth, repeating a pattern that was last seen 913 years ago. Now, Saturn is in charge of the Sun in Capricorn. He’s retrograde in Leo while siding physically in the sky with Moon, attempting to repress Moon’s emotions. But moon travels OVER SATURN‘s head, so he can‘t stop her or control her or prevent her emotional outburst. She is mad as hell and not going to take it any more. The Sun and Moon are at their widest apart position straddling across the equator, emphazing the polarity of opposites. Sun is down at the Tropic of Capricorn, signaling winter, coldness and a barren, dark world while Moon is Out of Bounds up here at the Tropic of Cancer hanging around Saturn feeling frustrated and emotional. No holds barred, our lunation will be a war of logic with emotions, solar drive with lunar needs and exercising control versus deciding not to be dominated. Volatile, volatile, volatile. The symbolism of a 913 year old configuration is tied to the passage and changing of kings over a stable kingdom. The crown prince waiting in the sidelines takes over, in a peaceful manner, after the death or departure of the king.
Third, Saturn, retrograde in Leo, is also in charge of Venus in Capricorn. Venus is in charge of the south node in Libra as well as ruling Mars in Taurus. Mars in Taurus is in charge of that evolutionary north node of Aries. Everything comes back to Saturn in Leo, retrograde. So, while “nothing” will appear to “happen” on this full moon (except oodles of emotions and a seething, pulsing, stagnant lake), what is at stake is unbelievably enormous. The cosmic mosquitoes are laying oodles of eggs in that stagnant lake water. There are going to be tidal wave swarms of mosquitoes in a few months when they all hatch. Now, there are all sorts of options. You can drain the lake, OR put in a fountain OR increase the water’s motion making it flow to disturb the larva by removing the beaver dam over by the creek OR apply larvicide to the water, killing other stuff too OR stock the lake with creatures that love to eat mosquito larva OR build a purple martin house to attract birds who love to eat mosquitoes OR build a screened in porch OR apply bug repellent to your body OR stay inside OR stay out the shade where they swarm OR spray pesticide after they hatch. Or a combination of all of the options! The point to recognize is you DO have OPTIONS AND that the lake is stagnant AND the mosquitoes are coming IF you don’t have a plan AND start to SOLIDLY work toward it to create the dreams, loves and life you want.
Fourth, our fixed cross is starting to get exact, meaning it stretches our soul like an overstretched rubber band launching a spitball at our enemies (or perceived enemies)! And you will feel about as effective as a spit ball seems to be. Ouch! Well, actually the t-square between Mars Taurus, Neptune Aquarius and Jupiter Scorpio are very tight AND falling on the fixed world axis. We aren’t going to know what that t-square means until Saturn gets to 15/16 next fall BUT the seeds are being sown now! Like dandelion spores, the seed air ships are blowing around and landing in unexpected places. Watch for clues. And, I don’t want you to be discouraged about only being as effective as a spitball launched by a third grader or a dandelion spore! It is about the intention, the energy, the opposition, the drive to evolve and bloom. Pretty soon, there will be bright yellow dandelions all over your lawn. Again, with dandelions, you have oodles of options, just like with the mosquito larva. I won’t bore you by listing them, but I would include making dandelion wine or sautéed greens in garlic in the list. Dandelions are delicious, if a bit bitter and a liver cleanser! You have to have a plan AND start to solidly work toward it to create the dreams, loves and life you want.
Fifth, the lunar nodes are angular, with the south node sitting on the midheaven and the evolutionary north node hidden and appearing to be cowering at the base of the chart. So, that suggests you hold your counsel, keep your head, go quietly about your business and make your plan AND start to work solidly toward it to create the dreams, loves and life you want. It is your life. You can do what you want. Maybe not this exact SECOND but you can if you think you can. I will encourage you to recognize the draw is going to be towards diving back into that oh so easy south node and going along to get along. BUT, even if you are smiling on the outside and seething on the inside, crying, wailing and gnashing your teeth, I want you to make your plan AND start to solidly work towards it. Ignore the apparent block in your way. You might FEEL trapped, but your mind and heart are FREE.
They are not captive.
All the usual platitudes said when things don’t go your way apply but the one that says you can if you think you can and you can’t if you think you can’t is the one I want you to focus on. Start humming that song with the refrain, “oops, there goes another …”. Do you know the one I mean? The one Frank Sinatra used to sing? Next time you’re found, with your chin on the ground, there a lot to be learned, so look around. Just what makes that little old ant think he’ll move that rubber tree plant? Anyone knows an ant, can’t move a rubber tree plant! But he’s got high hopes! He’s got high hopes! He’s got high apple pie, in the sky hopes! So any time your gettin’ low, ’stead of lettin’ go, just remember that ant. Oops there goes another rubber tree plant! When troubles call, and your back’s to the wall, there a lot to be learned ~ that wall could fall! Once there was a silly old ram thought he’d punch a hole in a dam. No one could make that ram, scram! He kept buttin’ that dam ’cause he had high hopes. He had high hopes. He had high apple pie, in the sky hopes. So any time your feelin’ bad, ’stead of feelin’ sad, just remember that ram. Oops there goes a billion kilowatt dam! All problems just toy balloons. They’ll be bursted soon. They’re just bound to go pop. Oops there goes another problem, kerplop!
Sixth, the entire chart is so interrelated, interconnected, sensitive and working in unison that a sneeze, a whisper or a breeze could set it off to start the whole thing a’rolling. Maybe the Ant has a gust of wind that helps him move the rubber tree plant? Maybe the Ram found a weak spot in the dam’s concrete? Walls exist because we build them. We can tear walls down. Walls can fall. Walls exist because we agree to them and decide to respect them. Walls exist because of Saturn. If you don’t want that particular wall any more, tear it down! Or if you are not sure yet about that wall, just dig a peephole into it and see what you see. Or put in maybe a window? Or send a periscope up over the top of the wall. At LEAST LOOK!!!! Nobody is going to know if you take a quick peek at the thing you are building the wall against. You know you want to look. The part of you that wants to evolve wants to look. Let it look. No judgments. Just look. Boundaries and walls are necessary defenses. Skin is a boundary that walls off and keeps our body safe from infection. AND our skin lets stuff in and out of our body. Make your wall permeable, in a good way, like your skin is, so your wall exists for safety, and not because of old fears, especially from Fall 1982 to Spring 1983. Make your walls permeable in a good way. I bet in a couple of months, you’ll figure out a new use for that wall of yours. You have to say, loud and clear, you want help moving that rubber tree plant, you want help knocking down that dam, or you want help making that wall fall. Say clearly whatever it is you want. What do you want? Where do you want your dandelion spore to blow?
Seventh and last, because all the planets are so interrelated and sensitive, the midpoints and sensitive points are robust and juicy too. Be willing to experiment with unusual blends of energy. Know your desires, accept the help, images, or ideas that come your way, even if they don’t make sense at first. They may not be clear AT ALL. But, like a giant cosmic scavenger hunt, pick up the clues. Put the clues in your bag. Take a quiet moment and lay all your clues out on brilliant white space. Notice the correlations and the non-correlations. It is an intuitive, emotional moon. Listen to your wise inner voice. Evolve.
So, now on to Lynda Hill’s descriptions of the Sabian images for the Sun and Moon at 25 Cancer/Capricorn
A LEADER OF MEN WRAPPED IN AN INVISIBLE CLOAK OF POWER Commentary: ‘A Leader of Men Wrapped in an invisible Cloak of Power’ is an image of someone who has the charisma, leadership or position that implies great authority and responsibility. Often these things need to be handled carefully, having a lot of ‘Power’ can lead to corruption and abuse of privileges. As this pictures a ‘Leader of Men’, this person must work for the good of the whole – not purely for personal advantage.
Oracle: There comes a time for most of us when we have to rise to the occasion as someone in charge or as a decision maker. Whatever the situation, there is a need to accept that you, or someone else, has this level of ‘Power’, and this must be used and wielded wisely. You have an unavoidable obligation to accept responsibility and respond rationally. It may be that you have not sought out this ‘Power’ or position of ‘Leadership’. It can feel as though it has been thrust on you, but you have been placed in this position and you need to understand and accept the consequences. This Symbol can also mean the abdication or giving away of power to others – people who seem stronger or more in charge than yourself, the responsibility of it can be refused and handed on. Alternatively, if someone is abusing their authority, others can be roused to remove this ‘Cloak’ or “mantle”, thereby stripping them of their authority or control. Positively, the ‘Invisible Cloak of Power’ can be something that lands in one’s lap, and must be responded to with responsibility and acceptance. We can all be our own “gurus”- taking on our own sense of strength and ability. Sometimes we can find this out through the agency of someone else. Don’t wait for somebody to tell you of your ability-believe in your ‘Power’ and act on it. A special shawl or ‘Cloak’ can work wonders.
Keywords: Leadership and its honors and responsibilities. Powerful descent of energies taking over one’s being. Feeling invincible that one can do nothing wrong. Hugging and being hugged. Sore shoulders. Shawls and cloaks that empower or cover-up. Gurus. Quiet, unassuming strength. Charisma, strength and presence. Beautiful coats. Furs. Huge personalities.
The Caution: Shows of superiority. Presuming oneself to be more than one is. Megalomania. Abuse of power. Not owning one’s magnificence. Having the weight of the world on your shoulders. People on power trips. Lording it over others. Being pushy.
Great hearts steadily send forth the secret forces that incessantly draw great events. Ralph Waldo Emerson
Leadership is practiced not so much in words as in attitude and in actions. Harold S. Geneen
A leader is best when people barely know he exists. Witter Bynner
Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power. Abraham Lincoln
A person wrapped up in himself makes a small package. Harry
AN ORIENTAL RUG DEALER IN A STORE FILLED WITH PRECIOUS ORNAMENTAL RUGS
Commentary: ‘An Oriental Rug Dealer in a Store Filled With Precious Ornamental Rugs’ is an image of the allure and the beauty of fine things and the appreciation of fine craftsmanship. ‘Precious Ornamental Rugs’ can inspire awe at their beauty and the fine work, dedication and time that went into making them. Honoring one’s work or input into society is a necessary part of feeling that one contributes to the social whole. The ‘Oriental Rug Dealer’ should believe in the true worth and value of the ‘Precious Ornamental Rugs’ he is selling, as these things are socially and culturally very valuable and useful. If he doesn’t really believe in what he’s doing, others won’t respond to his “sales pitch” and his customers will wander off leaving him alone in the shop. His words and actions may be seen as a sham of some kind, like a bogus or shifty “used-car salesman”.
Oracle: This Symbol shows the beautiful and yet practical products that society produces that protect and cushion us from hard reality and give a sense of safety, warmth and security. Taking pride in the products of our culture and selling useful and beautiful things is a responsible position, and the claims that are made about the products have to be tried and true. Having the knack of buying and selling things is very useful in this situation, but do you believe in what you’re buying or selling? Not taking somebody seriously because of what they do for a profession or how they conduct their business can be alienating for all concerned. There may be the feeling of needing to reassess one’s real attitudes and ideals. You may feel the need to work with the physical and mental practices of oriental traditions that are available.
Keywords: Refinement of cultural understanding and values. Appreciating excellence of quality. Always looking for a bargain. Buying things at bargain prices and selling them at higher prices. Bartering and trading. Charging a fair price. The sales pitch. Second hand goods. Marketing. Promotions. Sales. Discounts.
The Caution: Bargaining only to personal advantage. Giving undue significance to unworthy goods. The archetypal “car salesman”. Talking to others in order to gain advantage. Not appreciating the value of one’s goods.
What is a man if he is not a thief who openly charges as much as he can for the goods he sells? Mahatma Gandhi
The buyer has need of a hundred eyes, the seller of but one. Proverb
Junk is the ideal product. . . the ultimate merchandise. No sales talk necessary. The client will crawl through a sewer and beg to buy. William S. Burroughs
There are very honest people who do not think that they have had a bargain unless they have cheated a merchant. Anatole France
Advertising may be described as the science of arresting the human intelligence long enough to get money from it. Stephen Leacock
All virtue is summed up in dealing justly. Aristotle
Every one lives by selling something.Robert Louise Stevenson
Here’s the rule for bargains: ‘Do other men. For they would do you.’ That’s the true business precept. Charles Dickens .
And, just to help you immerse yourself into the energy of the lunation, I am going to include the Sabian images for the other planets. Like the full moon chart, blend the images together to help determine between the choices, paths, roads you want to take under this glorious, juicy and sensitive light from the heavens. Remember to take actions based on love not fear. Choose actions leading to evolution over conservation and conservative play. Neptune is SO prominent during the lunation so use it‘s energy to dream your dream. Read the Sabian images. Notice, gently, which images appeal to you. Notice which images don’t appeal to you. Evolve toward the images that call your heart, your soul, and your essence to evolve. Ready? Here we go: A flag bearer in battle. A girl’s face breaking into a smile. Sea gulls fly around a ship looking for food. A blazing fireplace in a deserted home. A woman’s hat with streamers blown by the wind. A young woman surreptiously bathing in the nude. A woman entering a convent. A Hindu healer glows with a mystic healing power. A watch dog standing guard protecting his master and his possessions. The race begins and intent on outdistancing his rivals, a jockey spurs his horse to great speed. An old man is attempting with a degree of success unsuspected by him to reveal the mysteries to a motley group. Glass blowers shape beautiful forms with their controlled breathing. A man teaching the true inner knowledge of the new world to his students.
Flow into the journey of our full moon. Then as gently as a summer breeze, whisper your desired existence, life, love and heart’s path into form. Ah choo ~ Bless you! It is.
